I can't afford it, but buggerit I'm going anyway. :D First night had been presumed to be at Hoddom Castle. I stayed last year in the caravan and you do need to book in advance, can't just turn up en masse. So I'm just gauging preliminary numbers, before I pay a deposit.

I believe a rough itinerary does exist, but I've not seen it. I fear the list of attendees may be lost too. We're betting on camping (almost) every night. If we're going near Ullapool, we probably won't be able to resist an excellent B&B we stopped at in 2008. If it's still there...

Posted a draft route back here (scroll down towards the bottom of the page, direct link doesn't seem to work in new tab), haven't re-read following posts, don't recall that there were any major amendments. Mark's the boss though.

This route was posted on an 'easy to follow' basis, the idea is to get as far off A roads as possible - not that there are that many roads in some parts of Scotland.

-1 for me Mark, i'm sure I posted somewhere further back in the thread, i'm working the weekends either side of the challenge, and if I book them off, and the week in between I have half a days holiday left to last me until 31st December! So can't do it i'm afraid... I'll just have to make do with amazing pictures that you all WILL take :D

Don't tell me I'm in charge Sandre, that's a really scary proposition. :D

My intention is for an entirely democratic means of determining our route/destinations. The more suggestion/options put forward by the majority, the more interesting the journey/ challenge becomes.

Saying that, I do REALLY want to overnight at the campsite in Applecross. :)

We're going to Scotland. For one week. Not a grand tour of Europe and the Far East for six months. Total democracy just means it won't happen.

Yeah, but what I said ^. If no-one suggests anything or complains, then as you're being good enough to organise it, just pick what you want. Oh, and tell us so we can be there, there's a good chap. FWIW I think I had Applecross in my mix somewhere because you mentioned it earlier.

Why yes, I have had an irritating day, what on earth makes you ask?

Definately going, although the 1st night at Ecclefechan I'll probably be staying with friends down the road the previous night.

I think this is roughly Sandre's suggested route (its a clickable to a GMap).

Points out a few things to me, it's starting on a Monday (rather than a Saturday) and i dont have enough holidays to cover a whole week (Japan company runs holiday year July to July).

I was planning on something similar to Kitch, do the first few days then fly back so wife can be back in work Thursday. I was also planning on getting to the Lakes on Friday night and being ready to go Saturday, oops.

I will have to work out a plan (for me) that takes this in.
