J649NKK RIP at Harry Bucklands, Cheltenham

Post by citsncycles »

The above car is a black 19GTi auto in their scrap yard.

It's missing the intake manifold, some glass, odd bits of electrical bits from inside and the side rubbing strips, but all the panels, seats, door cards, and hydraulics seem to be there, and in good condition if anyone in the area needs bits.

There's a decent set of indicators on it but the headlights are shot

Sadly just shows you can't ensure the next owner will look after it a sell as you do.

Thought I'd repost your pic 'drfonk' so we could get a proper look at it - that was a VERY big file!

I think everyone here has a 'lost love' that's now either languishing in the scrappers or long since cubed - commiserations. :(

Would you want to see a photo of it now? I was going to post up one of Mike's from Facebook, but if you'd rather not I won't!

Sorry I didn't realise the picture would be so large... I will resize it.

Oh such a sad day... even the mrs was upset to hear its going to get trashed , I handed over a wad of history with the car, I had spend about 7-8k on the car while I owned it. Oh well I guess the guy who bought it found it needed too much work doing to it. Might be worth mentioning it had a fairly new radiator on it (probably done 8k miles?), also I had replaced the starter motor (done about 16k miles?).... also the two front tyres were new when I sold it. I have a copy of the ebay add I wrote which detailed all the history if anyone is interested in me posting it.

Go on then, send us a picture ... sniff sniff.... :(

Ooh Mike, if you're passing you couldn't whip that splitter off of it for me? I'll send required remuneration and some for your fuel and time. After seeing Andrew's Aubergine with snazzy new wheels, I decided my TXD, being a TD, should have a splitter. But i'll keep the wheel trims, it's not a TZD after all - no good getting thoughts above it's station.

It can't be great to see a car you put so much effort and time into, in a scrap yard, I know if I saw my old astra scrapped i'd be sad. But it will help other BX's this way, perhaps keep them on the road when otherwise they'd be scrapped too? (Vulture redeemed perhaps)

Jeez! 'Where there's a corpse vultures will gather'. Just spare a thought for drfonk as he comes to terms with his loss. Anyway, I don't think they are the contour kind - if they were I'd have been all over them like a rash. :D
