Yesterday i changed the blue relay in the fuse box, hopefully that's sorted the indicator sqkwaking sounds that it was making. I also checked all the fuses in the hope that the one that controls the fan speed was bust, but alas no, i did replace the fuse just incase, but the fan was still dead as a dodo. I'm pretty sure that when Shaun took the fan controller board out to put some bulbs in, it looked fine, so perhaps its just the motor in the scuttle which is kaput, something to sort out over the New Year

have you linked the 2 earths? it's much more likely to be this than the motor.

Timex has a multi connector in front of the heater casing under the bonnet that sometimes needs a clean or moving about to make it work.

Changed the oil & filter today, mileage is 156569. Also pumped up the driver side front tyre, it always loses pressure as the rim leaks. Gave the car a wash as well, 1st time in ages, it almost looks white again .

Changed winter tyres over to my summer tyres today.

Found some nasty looking corrosion on the psgr side rear where the bump stop is, its twisted slightly due to the corrosion & has a dirty great hole where it should be solid metal & the hydraulic pipes in that vicinity have some rust on them as well Lets hope i don't have to go to chevronics to get that sorted out as that'll be expensive.

Annoyingly as well on the psgr side front the brand new handbrake cable has been rubbing against the wheel so is now worn I've copper greased everything up to hopefully stop it from rusting, the other side was fine, so can't quite work out why its one side & not the other, damn annoying.

Rear brake pads are a bit low on both sides as well, but in the context of how much use they get i suspect they should be fine for quite a while, but will keep an eye on them & probably get them done sometime this year when the weather is warmer.

I could do with an expert opinion on the corrosion thats on my car, some may just be cosmetic but i'd like to know what is important & what isn't, it'll stop me from panicking that the car might not be on the road for too much longer.

The ns handbrake cable on my txd has been rubbing on the wheel for about a year now, so much so that it's rubbed the cable right through to the inner. I took the wheel off the other day to investigate a creaking caliper on the same side and found that the cable guide, the one attached to the strut has snapped thus causing the cable to rub. You may find this is what's happened to yours too.
I noticed a new one of these guides being offered on ebay recently but annoyingly didn't bid on it because i'm trying to get my bx spending under control.

To be honest, treat it all as important. Cosmetic can quickly turn to structural. If you can see rust, it usually means there's more lurking beneath. I'm pretty bad at attacking rust when I see it, and I'm constantly paying the (expensive!) price for that!

Any really visible rust should be tackled immediately, if for no other reason than to slow the spread. Generally speaking, whenever you see rust you're going to find more and it's impossible to chase every last bit out on a car that's sees the road. If you see anything in what looks like a serious area get it fixed as soon as you can. The more cosmetic stuff like stone chips can be dealt at a more leisurely pace but should still be given a dab of rust converter just to slow things down if nothing else.

Worrying about rust and owning a BX go hand in hand, surely? Unless you can move bits of the car that shouldn't move or fit your head through the hole created by the rust, I'd say not to worry about it too much. No, I can't quite get my head through the hole in Stripey's wing, that means it's fine

Pics of the rust may be useful - I'm still learning about the structure of a BX but after all the work so far on Timex, plus some repairs carried out on the TGE I previously owned, I could at least give an indication of how big a job it'll be

Bx's are pretty rust resistant so if its found its way to the surface there's some lurking!
