19tzd Auto up for grabs

Post by ken newbold »

Morning all

I have a white 1.9TZD automatic standing on the drive that I've been told can now go!

The good bits, engine and gearbox are faultless, it's only done about 67k miles and is in generally good condition.
A B and C pillars are all okay and the interior is good, all pipework is good.

Now the bad stuff, it's no tax or MOT, has had some bodywork done in the past, namely n's rear quarter panel repainted, lower half of n/s/r door painted, not very well, but reasonably. It had a new windscreen just after I got it following attention to the windscreen surround for minor rusting, the poor guy who came to fit the screen did it in sub zero temperatures and unfortunately didn't get the screen to site perfect and as a result there is wind noise when traveling on motorways.
It also suffers from the usual BX auto starter clicking issues (sometimes)

For the MOT it will need, 1 new ball joint and 1 new anti-roll bar link, I think the joints are actually OK but the rubbers are US, I changed one side last year, but the opposite side will need doing for the test. I think it will also need new tyres on the front, treads are OK but they are old and maybe cracking on the walls.

Now before anyone jumps on my back and points out that I got this car for nowt, that's true! however it did cost me £60 rail fare to Scotland and £50 Fuel to get it home, then the new windscreen, paintwork, rear arm bearings, timing belt, service etc etc.

So if anyone's interested let me know.

The dragon woman wants it gone off the drive and has told me to get the scrap man in to collect it. but she's crazy anyway, and I won't be doing any such thing, it's far too good for that! So there's no immediate rush.

Ken

Is that the Green XM Estate to the right of the BX, which you sold a while ago or is a new one to your 'Fleet' ?

Good luck with the BX sale !

:)

Also IIRC you had to go and find a Motor Factors (In the middle of no where) to purchase a new battery to to enable you to get it home too ?

:D
