I am reposting a message from Chevronics, from f/book re: BX parts, for everyones comments please :)

Chevronic Centre LTD
"I have just received information from Rob, who is in France, informing us that he has managed to negotiate a deal with BX rear panels, rear wings and boot floors. All good used parts. He now needs to know your thoughts on prices to see if it’s feasible or not. He has purchased some genuine Citroen BX front door wind deflectors, spare wheel frames and suspension arm rear discs protectors. Please let us know your thoughts. Thank you"

Very tricky. Roughly equivalent parts for 2CVs range from £79 up to as much as £278. That's for brand new items. These are described as good, used parts.

Rear wings - are they hatch or estate, Mk1, or Mk2? I believe that currently all that are available new are Mk2 hatchback lower repair sections as pattern parts, that I've seen at around £40. For a good complete wing I'd suggest around twice that, but that's only what I'd pay as opposed to making my own panel.

Wind deflectors - again Mk1 or 2? Mk2 ones, either genuine or pattern, seem to come up fairly regularly priced between £20 & £50. I've never seen any Mk1 items, but would consider a set for Timex. Would have to think about price for Mk1 items - it's all rarer, but there's less demand for it.

For boot floors I'd say brand new £100-£125. 2nd hand £50 tops.

That'd depend on what you got withyour boot floor - if it was just the flor panel pressing then yes, but if it had been cut out of a rust free shell, complete with all the rails underneath, then that could be a lot more useful for saving what would otherwise be a terminally rusty car, such as Jaba's estate, and as such could be worth more.

Is a boot panel really that complicated to bash out though? £20 of fresh steel and a hand full of hours hitting it with the hammer. I wouldn't want to pay much over £60 new really. In stock panels don't tend to cost that much, if only there where more BX panels 'in stock'.

Priced correctly, i'd probably end up with most of a BX in 'Ikea' form!

I'd be interested in disc protectors, but I don't know what price would be reasonable.
I would guess the last citroen price on them to have been about £25 to £30 each.

That all depends on the size of the repair and the finish you want. I've replaced entire boot floors with a flat sheet with folded edges made with a hammer and a piece of angle, but it wasn't pretty and the owner wasn't worried about anything but making it solid. On the other hand I've also invested hundreds on tools such as swaging rollers, a large metal folder and various cutting tools that enable me to, with time, recreate most panels. A boot floor with all the swages will take me at least a day to make, so if I had the funds at the time to save a days work by buying a panel then I'd consider it. If the rails underneath my boot floor were also rotten and I could purchase a boot floor complete with these rails attached it would make even more sense.

Regards the price of rear Mk2 panels, I got probably the last two genuine Citroen ones for ~£75 each. They weren't perfect and had a few minor dings, but at least that sets a maximum nominal limit for an outstanding secondhand panel. Of course, the parts are only worth what you are prepared to pay, which is probably why Rob wants to know what people will want before he loads up and heads for home.

Sounds about right for genuine boot floor panels. What estate owners will have to take into account is the extenson piece fitted to the rear of this panel by Heuliez, which IIRC is welded on top of the rear edge. Of course, if salvaging a boot floor from an estate it's probably worth cutting to the back of the car as both that joint and the rear cross member can rust.

Seeing as these parts are 2nd hand, i personally wouldn't want to pay too much, rear wings £30, probably similar price for a boot floor. If you had new parts then probably double that. Rear disc protectors £10 each, spare wheel frames £15, everything else probably has less demand imho so dependent on price would sell, but don't bank on really making any significant profit. Just my views of course ;)

I sincerely doubt that there is any quest for significant profit here.

Rob is trying to source BX parts, which would be otherwise unobtainable in the U.K., and is testing the waters - hence my re-posting of a message on behalf of Sandre.

..that_

I've absolutely no idea what these panels may or may not be worth. As far as the mechanical practicalities of motor cars go, I'm a bit of a twit - although I try to plug the gaps in my knowledge with enthusiasm -which kind of works - mostly.

But here's what I think; Robs not the cheapest Citroen specialist in the world, but he is among the best. He's been prepared to put his hand in his pocket and get on his bike to do his bit to keep BXs going. If he makes a few bob into the bargain, what's wrong with that? If profit was his only motive why would he bogger about with BXs?!
