MK1 19DTR For Sale £2000.

Post by Tim Leech »

It hasnt been used for 6 months, plus I need to cut some financial corners, no great rush for now but I will be offering it for sale in late summer, when it will be offered with a fresh 12 months MOT and a new heavy duty battery.

As you know the car was restored and repainted last summer and is in great condition inside and out, its not perfect and the paintwork has a few flaws but as Mk1 Diesels are very very rare and the DTR one of about 3 left (I only know of one other roadworthy) im not too fussed.

Mileage is 182'000 miles but pretty much everythings been replaced over the years (triggers broom) and when I bought it in 2011 Ken went through it with a fine tooth comb changing all fluids, arm bearings, spheres, cambelt etc. The service history file is very sizeable!

The boot floor has been welded as has the front subframe, the A posts and inner wings are all solid, its has new outer sills and door shuts are a little patchy in places but theres no corrosion issues.

Its not fast by any standards but pulls well and runs lovely and starts first time. (Rotodiesel)

All the electrics work except the interior light courtesy switches on a couple of doors.

Price? Well it owes me about £3000 with the repairs done (I could write a long list), but will take offers over £2000, which of course doesnt include the 100+ hours ive done on it myself.

I intend to replace with the something older (free tax), smaller, simpler and british that me and the wife can both drive, so if you have such a thing that you would like a swop/px on please let me know.

Being a DTR it has electric windows x4 , electric sunroof, power steering, and the full Mk1 dash with sexy LED tacho, the interior is mint having a set of later model seats fitted from a low mileage Mk2 which match and the carpet was removed and professionally steam cleaned and the floors cleaned and rust treated.

Correct Rubber mats, Mk1 flaps all round and (new) headlamp protectors, its back on its original steel wheels with correct Mk1 trims and a couple of new tyres will be fitted before MOT. I can offer a set of Metric Alloys with tyres at extra cost if required.

A new rear 1/4 window was also supplied and fitted when the car was painted.

Im keeping the TZI auto and going to slowly make that a show winner and the GT is just too nice to let go and I think two 1.9 BX's is enought for me.....unless they bring back teh 25 year free road tax of course.

Anyway, as with WTF I reserve the right who I sell it too, its FAR too good to use to use as a hack (as it was before I bought it and was very tatty).

Find another like this one....

Tim, its a shame your wanting to part with it after all the hard-work time and £'sssssssss you put into it :(
Photo's will help to sell it (Which I'm sure you'll post up later) but for now I found a couple from last year when you took it out to the Bourne/BRM weekend (When it was riding on the Alloy's) !

Good luck with the sale, but I'm sure you want have any trouble re-homing it !

PS:- Just noticed too, that you've wiped out your signature and list of currently owned vehicles :?

:)

A beautiful car and a bargain for someone when you consider the work carried out.

I'm sure this one will find the right owner, just like the last one did. I'd like to have one in this spec, but not this one - I couldn't give it the care it deserves!

Great motor bud. You did a very good job on saving a MK 1 and i think you deserve to get at least 2.2 k for it. Ide love to have it, how about a swap with Mollie?
I couldnt increase the fleet any more. Good luck bud.

Never have enough MK 1s Tim, they are such a pleasure to drive.
Seem to be driving mine more than the Mk 2s these days. When in a MK 2, keep reaching for the non cancelling indicators!!
Sophie is off to the South of England Show tomorrow, Gloria on Saturday. TGS was there the last 2 days.
Someone please buy this!!

If you remove the self cancelling tab from the back of the steering wheel, you can have proper indicators on a Mk2 as well!
