Thanks. Have been chatting to the team at CCB this afternoon. Expect the price guide to undergo a mighty upgrading for BX values... (with more categories!). This car goes beyond what I thought was normal not-exciting-petrol money though! (if not by much)

Jolly good - about bloody time IMHO. I hope this sets a precedent for other classic car magazine price guides where inclusion would be a good thing, never mind a revision of values!

Don't worry - it's gone to a good home. I won the auction and I've had BXes since 1992. A GTI, a TZD Auto, a TXD Auto, and a Meteor diesel auto. The GTI I sold immaculate at 40K miles, the TZD lost an armco wrestling match and was so rusty in relatively hidden places that it was beyond saving, the Meteor died because of a suspected porous block and a more than a fair bit of rust, the TXD I sold recently as a non-runner with a seriously broken auto 'box to be made a runner again by an enthusiast who already has five BXes. So since 1992 I've only been without a BX for the last two months. I've also not been without a 2CV since 1971, when I joined the CCC and I'm still a member. I also belong to 2CVGB and various other car clubs.

It will NOT be broken, will not go in a museum, but will be well looked after and used - 'Loves driving, hates garages'. First job is to put some Michelin tyres on it to replace the Chinese ones it currently wears, which appear to be made from recycled rubber bands left on doorsteps by postmen.

Jolly good! Though I wouldn't necessarily choose Michelins for a BX - there are better and cheaper tyres out there these days. Chinese budget tyres are often lethal in the wet though so I can understand you binning them!

I think the preferred Chinese brand are commonly called 'ditch finders'!! Congratulations on a lovely looking BX. Plenty of detailed pics pls.

Well, it's been good so far, - for an old car. Apart from tyres, it has needed spheres and a full carb overhaul, and front indicator earthing problem. Rear seats have never been sat in by the look of it. However, the throttle cable has given up and I want to replace the whole cable, not just bodge it. They seem to be difficult to source; does anyone know of the availability of any, please?

You can still buy throttle cables from Citroen main dealers.

Thanks. It's in my local friendly garage at the moment, so I'll pass the info on.

I must admit I considered this car, when I knew W H had it. They told me it was a part exchange and the customer had always had it serviced by them, they'd sold it to them etc etc. Very tidy example. It was the auto box compared to the manual that put me off. Nice grey like my Athena.
Personally I prefer the Michelins (pair fitted balanced vat etc last year £120) for ride quality and steering weight. I found Dunlops a little 'light' and Goodyear very noisy though the Centurato(?) was OK but it was only on the back. Currently have Uniroyal and 'Chinese' winter tyres on back! but good Michelins on the front. Oh the Westlakes were not bad. Don't think I'll see 72k (front) out of these Michelin or 108k (rear) ever again, like those MXLs' on my old 14RE...
Good to know the car is still running around in good nick, best of luck with her.

As I drove my last one home after buying it the only front suspension was the tyres - I knew what the first job would be! Passed MOT a few days before mind you and don't even mention emissions when it came to the following years MOT. I would check the suspension return front pipes too, more old age than use issue and easy to change.
