I never followed the sticker template anyway!

On Youth Hostels, they aren't as plentiful as they were, but I have used them in the past - basic accomodation but in the larger ones at least decent, simple meals. The last one I used was a castle in the middle of the Forest of Dean, which cost IIRC around £20 for dinner, bed & breakfast - the warden even included a castle tour! As mentioned, no membership needed and no age limit - I guess in order to stay competitive. I gather at one point they didn't even let cars onto their grounds!

I now have some news regarding Youth Hostels from my cousin in England ( Is that the same in Scotland …? I suppose so  )
We are obliged to buy a year card and pre-booking is advised
The card can be bought as we arrive there

You can make your own choice now

Les nouveaux T-shirts est arrivés . . .

Image

They look good. It did occur to me that we might be subject to a good deal of inclement weather whilst North of the border, and so asked my lovely assistant and super-model Samantha to take one for a test drive in the local swimming pool . . .

(In the interests of good taste and decency this image has been removed.)

Wha'd'yer know - they're waterproof! :D

Speaking of inclement weather, I've been giving that some thought myself. I am hoping that last week's ebay purchase of a Caranex arrives on time (should do, it's marked as despatched on the 12th [-o< ), as that should shelter at least a few of us at a time in the evenings. I'm also going to bring a sheet and some straps in the hopes that it can be stretched between Timex and whatever else is handy (other Citroens, trees, hedges, livestock, passing ramblers etc.) so that we can hopefully sit in the relative dry and eat our luke warm scotch broth together!

I've spent the last two days re-proofing the tent, so the law of the sod should dictate fine weather!! [-o<
