What should I do with this BX?
Really not sure what to do with the BX I have in the back garden.
It's a '91 Triton green TZD turbo hatch with Retro-fitted A/C, which many people here will know as it's the ex-Mr.B and ex-Marty car, which about 5 years ago I bought for my ex-landlord. He ran about in it for a while, until the cambelt let got fairly spectacularly. He abandoned the vehicle, so I went and picked it up with a view to repairing it.
.. which I did. The head was fubar, so a replacement head was refurbed and fitted, and the aux belt arrangement sorted out so that it actually works. The engine then ran very well, A/C working etc.etc. Just needed a couple of bits for MOT.
I was in the middle of preparing it for MOT, which required a bit of welding in the boot floor and sorting out the permanent-ABS-lamp issue, when I then had to move house several times, so the car has been moved and stored several times, and still doesn't have an MOT.
It was going to be my other half's car, but she now has her Berlingo Multi-space and loves it. I can't really use it, as the job I now have (which I got while I had the car stored) ,I need to have a relatively modern (and somewhat larger) car for business. That said, my daily driver (a Disco Td5) is currently off the road, and I'm using a Xsara TD to get about.. I'd prefer if it were the BX as they are much more comfortable, but the Xsara is about the oldest car I can "get away with" for work.
Is it really worth much at the moment? It needs some work due to the fact it's been stored for as long as it has been: three of the tyres go flat a bit quickly, and one is very cracked, it needs a glovebox, and a good clean. And a battery (although that's no surprise!)
I don't want to scrap or break it really, but I don't know quite what to do with it, and I can't imagine it's worth much at the moment.....

Re: What should I do with this BX?
How far is it from an MOT? The way BX prices are at the moment, I think a fresh test would get you a pretty good return. Without one, people are going to be too panicky and you're probably talking £200 tops.

If the bits mentioned are all it needs for an MOT, and the mileage is reasonable, I wouldn't be surprised if you got a better return from selling it MOT'd even if you farmed out the work. A TZD Turbo with AC is the holy grail for some!

Re: What should I do with this BX?
I rekon you'd get better than 200 sheets for it with an MOT providing you sort the tyres out. I would of thought you could be knocking on the door of double that, at judging by the recent ebay prices you would.

Agree, it's worth more as a car than in bits.

Working A/C If the bodywork is in good nick, mileage is around 100k or less & all the issues addressed £1500+ in today's market. So well worth the effort imho, they are only going up in value

Re: What should I do with this BX?
Or scrap value
It's got A/C that works, that must be worth a few hundred just for that tbh, i'd love to have a BX with A/C, no more sticky drives
Who knows with values, theres been some fairly average cars achieve quite decent amounts, so anything half decent these days is a grand plus.
