I'd happily accept £650 for my TGD estate,
£650 plus a 4x4 estate that needs some work - you could collect the 4x4 on the same journey as delivering the TGD estate :D

Not to put you off, or anything... My St Tropez had a bit of rust on the rear cross member but looked quite acceptable on top. I'd echo Mike's advice for the locations of key rust spots as well as Vince's point about wonky wheels. Every car is different, so while my doors, windscreen surround, front wings and A and B posts were sound there were varying degrees of corrosion elsewhere. If you want to frighten yourself, have a look at the pics on my restoration blog and it'll give you a good idea about what to look out for. It could save you a lot of grief, not to mention a few bob.

Also look for Jaba's thread about the recent demise of his estate - that even scared me, as I've had to repair one of those front mounts on Timex - I have a subframe drop in my future in order to revisit the area and do it properly!

Also worth checking the front suspension arm bushes, drop links, lower ball joints, if u can, lift the carpets where poss and check for damp caused by blocked sunroof drains (if fitted) usually in the floorpans boot floor.

Well after a 550 mile round trip I collected a 19rd from Southampton today!
Ran lovely, quiet, nippy and everything works.
Only spoiled its card when it leaked on my clutch foot!( oil or thick fluid?)
What could this be?

I suspect you got it in one Tim. It might be the hose the other side of the bulkhead if your lucky!. I would certainly drain the cooling system to check the state of the coolant. If not clear and either blue/green/pink it needs to be changed. Use a 50/50 antifreeze/distilled water mix, NOT tap water.
Heater matrixes have probably been responsible for more scrapping of Xantias than anything else - £30 quid part - 9 hours labour, the BX is not quite as bad as it will come apart quicker. Fortunately never had to do one - yet, but I am religous at keeping clean high quality coolant.
Someone else may verify this, but I believe the matrix is the same in the Xantia and Xsara. Don't hold me to that as its only what I was told by a Citroen mechanic and it may well not be correct.
I've only had the Mk 2 BX, and only cooling problems have been water pump at 145k and stone fracturing radiator to give small leak and one split hose.

Its not too difficult to remove the heater matrix, the steering column tends to get in the way a bit and having the hands the size of a small child helps. Undoing and doing up the 4 bolts holding the matrix to the bit that goes through the bulkhead can be a pain and remember not to over tighten them as they can snap as i found through bitter experience when doing Sophie's.

If it's actually dripping onto your foot it's more likely to be the tap itself although could possibly be from the matrix and dribbling down the pipes to the tap assembly. But yes, can't see what it would be apart from coolant.

Heater works fine and coolant is at the correct level.
Just going to keep an eye on it.

If the gasket round the heater blower where it mounts under the bonnet has gone, it could be letting water through there.
