All I know is that G's seem to be a rare sight just about anywhere. At a French 2CV national a few years back I had a couple of people ask if the GS was some kind of modified Ami! At the same rally, the Secretary of one of the French GS Clubs got very exited because he didn't think there were any RHD ones left.

Because so much of the BX either came from other vehicles or were carried over to later vehicles (engines and gearboxes in particular) it will always have an advantage over the GS in terms of keeping them on the road. I still prefer the GS, but the lack of compromise that make the GS (In my mind anyway) the better car is also it's greatest drawback.

I still can't fathom how people who like classic cars still can't work out how to spell the make of their car.

Having said that, I used to take my BX to a very good independent specialist in Erith called the "Citreon Centre"!

Well! When I saw this on Ebay a month ago, I read the but about the CV joint that was swiftly followed by the well maintained comment.

I've been pondering that paradox ever since!

It shouldn't want for anything at that price.

And the fact that it has had a service at a main dealers counts for nothing in my book. They simply charge excessive money and sometimes get things wrong. They are not infallible.

I am sure the cambelt has probably been fitted correctly otherwise it wouldn't run right but did it have all the tensioner a replaced with genuine at the same time as that is what costs the money.

When I did my Xantia S1, it cost me £315 from memory for all the correct bits!!!

I agree with the being serviced at the main dealer counts for nothing (well very little at least) Being serviced at the main dealers means just that a 'service' it does not mean all the defects picked up on at the service were authorised by the customer for repair, it could mean the customer was given a big list of recommended jobs required or coming up and decides to off load it without paying to huge anticipated repair bills.

Document reference for checking MOT status is a useful indicator.

I've just bought a 60k mile Xantia S1. The seller, a dealer, failed to bring MOT at time of sale saying he didn't get one with the car. When I pumped in the info required on the VOSA website, there was an advisory for leaking HP pump amongst other things. Interesting!

You can imagine I was horrified having paid, what I would consider to be, over the odds for the car but I knew I was unlikely to get the opportunity to buy a 1 owner with 60k on again.

I turned down a K plate BX TZD with 63k on last year because it had a slight fluid leak for somewhere around £635. I considered that to be good money at the time. Idiot!

Ever the optimist! He's selling as it doesn't get used and has no storage.
