Dollywobbler wrote:It's Goodwood FoS this weekend. I doubt you'd receive anything anyway! They must receive a hell of a lot of emails. Sounds like there's potential with Kitch's car anyway. PC is more of a 'restoration' title, which is one reason they'll be interested.
It was the fact it was being restored that really interested them, I could tell that.

Not normally fussed, but it's a slow process for me getting it done while trying to run the workshop and father three kids under 4! If I got to the point I could submit the article and they took another BX instead, I'd be pretty deflated!

:( Apparently not, but Mike did warn you not to hold your breath and Mick said they get inundated, so you can probably assume it's 300 emails down their inbox and unlikely to get answered. If I want to make a point, I re-send the original and politely ask whether the recipient has overlooked the message. Doesn't always work, but persistence can pay and at least it's pro-active.

I'm with Des here. Having worked in the classic press, you get a ridiculous amount of emails. It just isn't possible to reply to them all AND get a magazine out. I also know that PC's editorial assistant moved to another job a while back and I don't think a replacement is in place yet.

May pay to have a glance through the magazine to see if there are any personal emails published rather than just the main editorial one.

Jeez. That's a bit defeatest!

To be honest, emails suggesting cars should be features are going to largely get ignored. What magazines want is a story - like Kitch's resto project. Or perhaps a huge gathering of cars to celebrate an anniversary or something. Once you've got your story, send it EVERYWHERE. Some nice pictures will help.

How about aiming for the CXM Rally to have the largest gathering of BXs in the country or something like that?

An article ( with pics ) is being formulated and assembled about the Ecosse Challenge. I spoke to Keith ( Moody ) at the NEC show last year and he asked me to contact him re any future events we had planned/participated in. He came across as very amenable to the idea.

I can see that doing well - not sure if they do it now (I don't read it much these days) but Practical Classics had a spot dedicated to adventures with your classics, which any of our Challenges would have been good for.

We still need a proper BX feature but all publicity is good publicity!

Gents, I've every interest in getting the BX into print if I can. I'm developing relationships with a couple of classic mags at the moment and am hoping we can do something BX-related in the not too dim and distant future. Don't get excited just yet, but you do have at least one motoring hack on your side. Oh, and the 16v at least is getting plenty of coverage on PistonHeads these days... ;)

The feature I had lined up in PC looks like it was going to be in the form of one of those reader's sagas, so not a proper feature in my mind. But I'm not sure the BX is recognised enough as a classic yet.

At least two motoring hacks I'll think you'll find. ;) (three if you include motorbikes!)
