Nope 195,000 miles on the TXD is just 8k more that the TRS and the TZSs dragging behind at 141,000. Of course with the exception of the Diesel the others are in KMs so 299,000kms looks pretty cool at the moment.

Trying to keep the mileage down myself :)

517k BX diesel estate (n/a one) owned by guys who restore DSs' in Kingsley Hants. Head gasket went at 470k the owner said it was getting a little tired now!. I have seen this car a few times and its speedo, pale metallic silver with light blue colour. Have also seen one other with 500k on it but about 15 years ago.

I was going to say there were tales of 500k mile BX, but I could not point you at one. I bet there are some real high numbers in France from back when these cars were used for independent business or a few who committed to a firm service regime on private cars but had dispersed families. France is a big country compared to our overcrowded island. Then again, that was then, and this is now, and interesting to know who has the high miler trophy. Betting is it has to be a diesel, but you never know.

Re: highest mileage acheived bx ... and the theory of relati

Post by kbami8txd »

Know it's not a BX but I had a non turbo 1.9 D Xsara estate that had been an airport taxi. It had 312,000 on it when I bought it and the engine was sweet ("just run in"! :D )... Had 378,00 on it when I finally sold it having had a new s/h fuel pump and running on 50/50 veg oil....and would still cruise happily at 90mph-. these engines are just great ! (and it wasn't scrapped when I sold it.)
Incidentally - I find my Diesel BX TXD I bought a couple of weeks ago, pretty "nippy" - but then my daily driver has been my Ami 8 for the last 5 years ..... it's all relative !

Not a BX but guy I worked for got his Toyota Hiace Van to 1 million kms and they (TOYOTA) gave him a brand new van for free! He refused to let go of his trusty steed ironically his new van has broken down a few times....lol

Chum Peter Darby did a similar thing with a Bedford Rascal. I forget the mileage, 600k or 750k for a puddlejumping local delivery van. He got a huge discount funded by both manufacturer and agent, I think. The dealer put the old van in his showroom as it was still in pretty good order and sold a lot of units as a result. Pete got through three of them and went back for the fourth to find they had stopped making them. He was a bit miffed. He is a microcar person so a Rascal is shear unadulterated luxury after Bond Minicars. offtop:c

When I was at Medway Citroen we had a customer with a diesel BX with 500k on the clock. He'd used it as a taxi for years but I only knew it in it's retirement. Can't remember what variant though, something tells me TXD...

I was chatting to an ex Taxi driver in Dublin. He said he'd had a diesel BX that went past 500k miles.
