The PILOT which originally sold for £181 would get my vote for that !

I see that its just been sold again for £1250 !

This has potential to command a higher price. The Pilot was a bit lucky IMO.

Yep, that's a lovely looking car that - with my liking for estates I still plan to bring back a MK1 14 estate from France one day (if there's any left!) But I could have still gone for that if funds and space had allowed.

'Tis, though I think the fact the panel gaps are good, the bumpers are lined up spot on and the wheels look tidy are better indicators of the car's condition.

Overall though, spot on. Slightly jealous, even with that engine

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I took one photo as I left but it doesn't add anymore than what Vantman posted. Here it is anyway.

Again I'm very happy with it and look or forward getting it home and passing the MOT. Yes, it was a good price but I don't intend on selling it any time soon. I'm happy to plough the cash I saved into firstly the little welding job and exhaust, then whatever else raises its head.

To be honest, it's much better than I thought and incredibly clean— wait until I post a pic of the engine bay. Its gleaming, and also has enough spare room for a week's shopping!

You might shoot me for even thinking this but I thought it would be absolutely terrible for that price and my initial thoughts on driving down to take a look were that it might have been a candidate to put its PRN dash in my little BX14. Obviously that not the case now!

Believe it or not, it's been garaged for 30 years!

After spending £1000 (in smallish amounts so I didn't notice!) on my current BX, I think I deserve this bargain!

P.S. I'm not really with the school of thought that some of you are about the "povo" wheel trims, etc. I'd like a set if TRS trims on there I think and maybe some electric front windows at least. But that's much later.

Your car of course....but NO NO NO NO NO!!! Povo models are uber rare, far less about than a TRS for instance or a GT so keep it as Citroen intended....also the TRS trims wont fit as the wheels are different widths which would mean moving up to wider wheels and 165 tyres and heavier steering etc plus fitting eleccy windows would mean installing a complete wiring loom

Well done though, so glad its gone to a loving home, that would be perfect for the NEC sometime to show how BX's evolvled...do you have a garage or car cover?

I can completely understand wanting to change things - your car, as Tim says - and I'd probably do similar things myself. But I'd advise you to make any modifications easily and invisibly reversible, as if and when you want to sell it the majority of people will see a completely standard spec. car as more valuable.

E.g. electric windows could be installed with a simple add-on loom, connected behind the cigarette lighter socket without even having to cut any wires.

That is of course complete witch-craft  and would involve many long painful hours and make the car worthless..... [-X

As they say these day Less is More!! :D

Absolutely! The wheels are one of the most attractive features of that car - I don't think I've ever seen another UK car with a set. For such a rare car in such original condition I'd want to keep it as close to factory spec. as possible, but as Mat says elsewhere, as long as any changes are easily reversible I suppose it's down to personal taste. Congrats again on the purchase - that has got to be the find of the century - enjoy! =D>

Nevermind. I expect there's whole bunch of 175 quids out there in BX land that will now be more sensibly spent on what the cash was earmarked for in the first place. Just not quite so much fun. :(

That's gorgeous. I love the body coloured window frames and purity of the car... very little indeed in the ways of superfluous decoration. Has the charm of any 2CV!
