Newbie saying hi - Red TZD Hatch

Post by rich_tzd »

Just signed up, been meaning to do it since I bought my BX 2 years ago
heres a few pics, need to get a few more but it currently needs a bit of bodywork and some polish!

Image

Image

Currently done a few bits and bobs: front spoiler, yellow bulbs and fogs, C5 16" wheels, 16V front brakes, french 'plates, stuff like that.
Bought it on a whim on ebay unseen after having a hankering for one since doing my apprenticeship at Citroen as a mechanic. Turns out it had nearly full service history!
Anyway, Hi! :D

Quite agree, best thing about the C5 is you can borrow parts for other cars!

I do believe we are, I'm sure we have had the C5 wheels discussion on there at some point :) they fit fine with no need for spacers now, now that my rear arms aren't doing an impression of a VW beetle

I just thought why not when I found a set for £60 on ebay. But yea, not a fan of the C5 as well  Had one run on its oil the other day at work out of the blue. That was fun..

Welcome, wheels look good although I assume you lose a bit of ride comfort with the lower profile side walls? Can be quite a shock when an engine starts running on it's engine oil from turbo bypass with no governor to control the rev limit can't it

It's a little more crashy over potholes but otherwise it much the same. I'm used to cars on low pros so this is still a world apart from my previous cars and to be fair, it's much better than our other car- mgb on race suspension! :)

I like the wheels purely because they are different, they sit quite nicely on the BX,
mind you I am about to put Hyundai Coupe alloys on my trajet people carrier.

Cheers. I owned a Nissan 300C with jeep Cherokee cross spokes and a skoda Felicia pickup with rover 9 spokes so coupe wheels on a trajet sounds pretty normal to me :D

For winter tires are not suitable, since the rear, after a build-up of snow, just stop your wheels spinning.

There is less room in the wheel arch because of the large sized alloy's that you've fitted. So as the snow builds up inside the arch, the wheel will stop turning.

Wheels and tyres are near exact same rolling radius at the oe wheels and tyres. Only difference is width. I've kept my stock steel wheels anyway should the weather turn foul but we don't see hardly any snow in this country anyway! If we do, I just walk to work. :)

Ok, didn't realise the height was the same, but the width would have an impact potentially. I've personally never suffered locking wheels & that was in very deep snow in which i had to raise the suspension so that the underside didn't act like a ski.
