Don't see why it shouldn't, but it'd be a bit low geared really - better to use the correct gearbox too.would a TZD engine just drop straight in, use same gearbox etc ?

Why? The GTi is a great drive and not that bad on petrol.patersom10 wrote:looks very tidy,

Re: J230 KLU
I must admit that if running costs were a concern I'd consider getting LPG installed rather than converting to diesel (as I'm looking at with the 4x4). The initial costs will be higher, but it'd be easier to insure, at least as cheap to run (for the GTi at least) and will retain more of it's value should you sell it on - just look at the problems some people have had recently selling BX's that have been converted to diesel power.

Re: J230 KLU
I bought my car from a (dodgy!) dealer in Surrey in 2002 and I think it was originally a NatWest company car, they bought at least two in the J-KLU sequence.Simon B wrote:It is a bit spooky to start getting nudges from my old BX again after so long. Deltic, did your J-KLU come from Bramley Park Garage in St Ives (Cambridgeshire)? Back in 2010 I took my "230" to the 2CVGB Registers Day in St Ives and got chatting to the late Roger Bradford who had sold my car twice from Bramley, once new, and again many years later!

Yes I have head the NatWest connection too. If they were company cars, then I'm impressed they were buying hot(ish) GTi models!deltic wrote: I bought my car from a (dodgy!) dealer in Surrey in 2002 and I think it was originally a NatWest company car, they bought at least two in the J-KLU sequence.

Re: J230 KLU
Maybe they should have given one to Fred as his pension in lieu of his pension...
My old KLD plate car came from Broads of Chalfont ie just up the road from Citroen HQ in Slough. I would guess KLU plate cars are from that same Middlesex/Berks area.
