That is really close to me. If it was salvageable it might be worth it. I'll give it a miss but if anyone wants I'll go and look at it, to verify condition.

Price quite funny. Do you second-hand cars are much cheaper than ours.

Low BX prices in the UK have mystified all us UK BX enthusiasts for many years but has the advantage of making them cheaply available to the enthusiast. We think it is probably the myth that they are really complicated cars with funny suspension that keeps the prices low.

I very, very nearly bought this one last time (fell asleep and missed the finishing time  )

Can't believe how many rare Citroens have come up for sale this week!

If there's not much interest (and I don't buy one of the Tiverton hoard!) I may have a go at this one, as it's the only one I've seen. It'd be well down the queue though!

Oh yes Paul - GS is in the middle of a clutch change and hydraulic overhaul, Timex is waiting for an MOT, Ripley the 2CV has had a new lower bulkhead and is waiting new floors and a front axle assembly rebuild before I can start screwing things back on the chassis, Buster the Nomad has been stalled for about 4 years now and the Series 1 needs a bulkhead rebuild. And I want to try to get both the 4x4 and the early Dyane on the road sometime next year - somehow I don't think it'll all happen that quickly!

Glad to see that the 'Mike Sims home for other people's unwanted projects' is still doing good business!!!
The boss thinks that I have not got much room to talk - only three non runners here at the moment, amongst the 4 wheeled stock at least!

Yes, we are people too afraid suspension BX, so it is cheaper than other classmates. But often it is the cause of ill-considered purchases .

Despite my gathering up a few BX and my mates enjoying the cars and marvelling at the low pricing none are making the obvious move to obtain one. Gary's determined leaking probably has not helped, but that has been exasperated by my lack of real time to go through the car as I should, and wanted, to get it sorted out. In fact looking the other way not many cars would continue to be drivable with equivalently serious faults! Add to that I am gaining experience all the time, there are helpful folk on this board, and chum Mike Milverton is well sharp, I am still a bit surprised. Martin of Ely is looking for one now but he has had them before.

So many people do seem to have a problem in buying a car and accepting it is actually crap. They seek to justify the choice in the face of mounting evidence that the model is fundamentally a no hoper. There are loads out there. A lot are modern and the producers should have known better! Now do not get me wrong, I am a major owner and supporter of crap cars. But I know they are crap, why they are crap, admit they are crap and own them for some redeeming feature that has merit or because their very crapiness makes them fun. I have to report there are many out there who fail to do this and take things far to seriously, getting upset if you so much as hint there best beloved machine is actually not a very good design.

By the opposite situation there are stunningly good designs of car out there that receive little recognition, no support and on the odd occasion one is bought forward sorted out, there is the fun of serious bottom kicking. Such a car as the Borgward Isabelle in TS form. A very capable car that put the wind up Mercedes with its Ponton. Like Tucker in the USA, Carl Borgward was taken out by low tactics. The BX fits in here as even the Citroen folk themselves seem divided on its merits. The answer is simple. Look how many they sold given the fact that LHM scares the crap out of more than half the motoring world. In its period it took probably the best diesel engine, put it in a chassis that worked with the nearly the best suspension solution and latterly with just about the right balance of extras before things got really silly with electric navel hair removers, glass eye cleaners and a camera for people who cannot reverse. Its a winner, and all the more so because most people cannot see it, as its a bargain. I will watch as period matched Mercs fail expensively, Golfs and Polos make there three monthly visits to the garage with recurring maladies on both, later Pug Citroens fall apart, Mondio catch fire because the fan seized up and Smarts fail to achieve 50k miles. Yeah I have had trouble but mine still comes in at a car costing me about £800 and it out performs most of the others. They have no everyday car I would prefer, the Merc coming top but its a model crippled with poor quality issues, unlike its predecessor that I pressed him to look at buying.

I am looking at a 4 X 4 but we have this same issue with most being crap for one reason or another. If only the bothered to bolt the Range Rover together properly there would be no argument.

Well I've dug through the old thread on this car, had a look on 'how many left (it aint many!) and have decided that if there's not much interest I may take a punt on this. Condition wise it's certainly far from perfect, but depending on what's going on underneath I should be able to save it, and if it's really really bad it'll help sort Timex out!
