Came with a few feet of spitting me down a cliff and onto a lava field in the wilds of Fuertventura.
Mine's now got 104,000 miles on it - we stripped the engine at 100k and found that apart from one damaged cam lobe, everything else in the engine was within tolerances for a new motor....

I guess they modded them after the pre-prod bikes then, i always found them pretty stable.
See, that says a lot for BMW engineering, the engines did last well, its a shame they didnt make the cycle parts quite so tough though, they looked second hand fast if used in all weathers.

YEp, never had a problem on the production versions, but I wasn't the only one to have a problem at the launch. A french ex GP racer was provoking them for fun....

.......................I saw 3 BX's in use in a ten minute drive across Coutances (KevR's manor) this morning, including a very tidy champagne coloured Millesme model - and noe of them was KevR!!!!
