bx weatherproof cover

Post by rutter123 »

looking for a full length cover that will fit nicely over a bx hatch, have recently purchased one but this is now torn after the storm, yet the other cover on the tgd faired well and stayed on the car (but cannot find another the same) anyone recommend one.

I bought one tailor-made for a BX a few years ago and it's been absolutely brilliant. It wasn't cheap (I think I paid about £100) but it's waterproof, breathable, fit's exactly and un-zips at the sides so that you can get in and out of the car without removing the cover. I should get another one for the TGD really, but I can't afford it. Highly recommended anyway.

Yeah, I noticed - that's inflation for you. They've got wheel covers as well (oooo nice! :D )

Indeed so. There is not a cheap fix to this. The bargain off the shelf stuff tends to die young. I do not know if the Army still sell off their tubular steel canvas covered 'biviowacks' (No chance on that one, Dyslexia rules KO). Good and large enough to do some jobs in. They are sturdy, waterproof and double up as a tent or den for kids when not on duty. Expensive new but they do last well.

cheap covers seem to loast about 12 months (if you're lucky) - I'll probably be buying a couple for Fred and Mitch, as they will be more interior covers against the nesting birds, although if you think buying one that fits a hatchback is tricky, try finding one for an estate without spending lots of money.

managed to pick one up off the net, waterproof, breathable and soft lined and a good fit covering dpwn to under the bumpers and held fast with a couple of long bungy cords, my other cover now into its 5th year and still good, car dry, tho the elasticated corners are starting to go.

They have a lot of covers at halfords. That's where I bought mine and there are most of the time vouchers for halfords at http://www.voucherbox.co.uk/. So you could try that ;)

Welcome to BXClub Jason :D

At the previous house I had lots of parking but it was under trees. Cheapie covers survived well but only because they were sheltered from wind to a significant degree.

Yes i found the cheapy £10/15 covers last two years but once they tear you may as well bin it, the £30 odd quid one i just got off the net is a lot heavier than the cheapy and a a better fit with wider elasticated corners, covering to the floor in low setting, none lost or blown away in the recent high winds, tho tree debris has dented the wing on the tgd. Hopefully will get the workshop built in spring so no more running the gauntlet and working outside.
