new HP pump ebay

I bought a cheap (15GBP) one a couple of years back from someone who was selling quite a few.

Yes that's probably the same guy we bought ours off, I think he was advertising them as 'reconditioned power steering pumps' but I got the feeling because they were so cheap he was just washing and painting old pumps off cars then boxing and flogging as recon.

i was lucky enough to bag the bearings. they hadnt been on long. mums estate is mostly original citroen parts. have had a few good finds for it on the bay. i wouldnt stretch to hundreds for a pump though. and im a sucker for dimpled and grooved brake discs.

Surprise surprise, i didn't stretch to that amount, bloody mad, i'll just stick to 2nd hand one's as an when they come up. Kev - the one i bought cheaply that you're referring to was a petrol one, i was hoping that someone may make a bracket that i could copy so that it could be fitted to a diesel car should the need arise. My current replacement pump appears ok, however, as soon as it starts to get cold, the damn steering gets stiff again, seems fine once the lhm has warmed up though, is that pump related or possibly something else? It doesn't make any noises & the belt does appear to be quite tight & i decent condition.

Ah!, the one I got is probably a petrol too then, they were that cheap I just bought one weather or not. So it's just the bracketry that is different between the two?

The pulley is a different size, but thats an easy swap over, its just that the petrol cars have the pump in a totally different place to where the diesel one is fitted, so the lugs that fit onto the relevant brackets are different, so its not just a straight swap, shame really as a lot more petrols were scrapped than diesels.

For those folk who missed out on the Diesel HP pump (Which sold for £330) the same seller has just listed another one, however they've got wise to there worth, as the starting price on this one is £200 !

The seller got it touch with me via e-bay to let me know that he had another one if i was interested, i said yes, but i was only prepared to pay £100 max, i guess he decided not to go with my offer, haha....

When you compare the pictures of this latest one with the last one; this one doesn't look 'New' it looks like a repainted / reconditioned old unit?
