No tax been dry stored since 08, hence its so solid.

this is the thread that you should view, its just had new fuel lines, 2 good front tyres (need putting on), new acc sphere and lhm fluid, exhaust rubber replaced.
So just some tlc and i doubt it will need much for mot as i work with volvo's most days.
But i would like that part of my drive back and unless its gone soon its destined to be chopped up.
The gearboxes on the volvo's i have broken this year are worth more than the entire bx.
A pic of its fate, a mint 90k 340bhp s60r 0-60 5secs -ish 174mph on the autobahn, one of 4 cars this year to meet the 9" petrol grinder.

Re: BX16v platinum silver forsale
Sorry I missed that bit the other thread, looks like a good one!
From a legal stand point, if one was to put short term insurance on it, it could be driven to a pre-booked MOT even though it hasn't got tax because you need a valid MOT before they issue a tax disk right ? Anyone know otherwise ?

I recently had to mot a non taxed car and was spotted dvla were fine with it as it was going to a prebooked mot.
However if it fails, you would then be stuck at mot station

Driving an untaxed vehicle to an MOT test
You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station as long as you have adequate insurance cover in place for the use of that vehicle.

Mine was insured, but I had a chat with the dvla on the phone who said it was ok, as I was on way to pre-booked mot.

I can't see driving it home to do repairs yourself is different to taking it to garage to have the repairs done.
But that is what the DVLA say on their website

Re: BX16v platinum silver forsale
It definitely used to say it could be taken to a place for repair on the actual MOT fail sheet stuff as opposed to the web overview. Of course it may have been changed to suit someone...

Re: BX16v platinum silver forsale
Because just taking it home without documented evidence of an appointment would be open to abuse, it can't be policed, everyone would just be able to keep driving until they get pulled and then just say they were taking it home for repair.Pogo wrote:I can't see driving it home to do repairs yourself is different to taking it to garage to have the repairs done.

/\ This only applies if the old MOT hasn't run out, if the old MOT has expired and it fails the test then you can't.;
"If the vehicle fails the test and the certificate has expired, you can only drive it to:
a pre-arranged appointment at a garage to have the repairs done
a pre-arranged MOT test appointment
Your vehicle should be retested at the same test centre which did the original test.
This has been discussed at length on here previously and the above is not necessarily fully definitive.
If you have an MOT, you have an MOT which is legal and you can drive the car wherever you like without restriction until the expiry of that MOT even if you take it for a subsequent test before it's expiry and it fails.
If you are stopped by the Police and they deem the car to be unroadworthy you may be prosecuted but that can also happen at any time subsequent to a successful MOT. I believe though for this to be an effective prosecution, the Police individual inspecting must be trained/certified and not just ordinary Plod.
A journey can be made to a pre-booked MOT if your MOT has expired.
If it fails, one journey can be made to a "Place of Repair" by a direct route without deviation. This means you can take it home if you have a driveway/garage off road and you/friends are the mechanics. You can not however stop off at a motor factors on the way home in the vehicle to pick up any necessary parts as this would both constitute two journeys with the break and probably deviates from a direct route from the MOT Station.

Anyway, that aside, is anyone going to but it before it gets cut up? The amount of interest Kitch's gained today I'm stunned a good car can't find a home.

Matt if it means it he's saved I can house it for a wee while. Bit it will need to be movable. I have drive space and a weatherproof cover.

Re: BX16v platinum silver forsale
Definately driveable and doesn't drop oil, suspension rises and falls, not far from mot worthy.
The best result would be to save this car and it go to another forum member.
