How much do you love your BX?

i definitly wouldent part with the red 16v as ive spent way over £10.000 putting it right plus its only ever had 1 piece of welding and that was only the exhaust hanger. Its fully undersealed by me and i have inspected every inch of the car and theres no other rot on it! i wouldent like to part with the green 16v either and also the blue gti we have. But for an every day car i use an escort rs turbo so that keeps the mileages down on the bx,s

Never ever parting with mine, if the worst were to happen, and I hope it doesn't, I would get her rebuilt/repaired whatever the cost.
I've had her 7.5 years now, there have been highs and lows, but more of the former than the latter
When I get a 2nd car, it will reduce the miles on the BX even more, currently about 6K per annum, and at some point I want a full respray done, and I might see if Robin & his Dad want to take a comission to do the whole undersealing thing for me!

I have had my current 16v just over 6 years and I lost most of my sight around 3 years ago.
I still keep the old girl in tip top condition and she gets MOT'd yearly and taxed 6 months of the year.
Cars have always beena big part of my life and now this one is set to be the long termer and probably th elast car I will ever drive on the road so it will not be moving on until I do.

I love my old car and bore the pants off anyone who'll listen to my stories about her! But to be truthful, tho I've had my TXD for almost 9 years, I am seriously considering putting the Pug 405 on the road and giving "Petite Vache" a well earned rest for a while when I go the France again - at least the suspension won't give me nightmares while on the journey! (Had two pipe repairs while there last time - and a lot cheaper than over here I should add!) I bought the Pug off Oily's sister for the engine but the car's too good to scrap so it's off the SORN and on the road soon (I hope!) Incidentally, the TXD's still running well despite a head gasket problem for quite some time - I guess a 'boy-racer' would kill her in an hour!

I have to say that unless circumstances force me to, I will never sell the GT. I drove a new type Hyundai Coupe 2.0 litre to Northampton and back today for work. At first I was very impressed, but then just slightly impressed as the journey went on. It felt sporty and smooth, but I soon realised the sportyness was down to the low driving position and general layout of the car, and the smoothnes made it slightly dull. Gearchanges were perfect even if they shouldnt have been-the engine seemed to automatically match its speed to what it needed to. It sounded like it was a very quick car, but in comparison to the BX GT, it was actually gutless, and lacked any decent torque, certainly 5th gear 30-70 was much slower, and the seats gave me severe back ache. I got back in my BX to drive home. It was relaxing, efficient, smoother riding, and the general feel of the BX with its excellent visability and no nonsense steering etc made me realise just how good the BX must have been in its day. Today was the first time in a while ive driven a modern car, with an equivalent price tag and engine to what the BX would have had in its day, and I just think, where have all teh years of development gone. Yes im sure modern cars are safer, but in the BX, there is a kind of relaxing seperation, yet involving reality in driving it, that makes you less likely to make mistakes. No, im never going to sell it. I wouldnt mind a 16V now ive got a taste of what one must be like, and I wouldnt be so woried about keeping it original in every way, but the GT has so much character and rarity that im going to stick with it. I just love the MK 1 interior too! I can see why you are falling for yours Kitch! Keep it!
