I'm quite happy to step back to let you go if you want - I'm sure there'll be other opportunities for me to take Timex (or one of the others) down for a session.

3x £10 = £30. Our average Chinese meal comes to £18.00 or so (usually have enough left to make something the next night too). Then I stop at the newsagents and get a bottle of Coke and a desert. The change I'll stick in the tea boat at work as repayment for the electricity.

Didn't think I'd have an answer, did you?

You don't want to fit an exhaust - Timex went a lot better when the back of it's exhaust fell off, and when I bodged up the joint between the NA front pipe and the TD system I'd fitted to it to stop it leaking for the MOT I swear it lost a few MPH!

I don't want an exhaustive dyno run just a quick 'check' that nothing is untoward so there might be room for another one (BX) Kitch.

To Misquote ' A journey of a million miles starts with your first BX' old chinese proverb...

That's all anyone will get. The time is physically moving the car in and out, strapping it down, calibrating the dyno etc. Three power runs actually take about a minute collectively to do

Power run tells you everything you need to know, unless the AFR reader tells you something else first!

The main thing I'm after, apart from (hopefully) finding out it's putting out more than the factory spec. 1.9 TD engine, is to see whether (as it feels to me) it's more powerful if I feed in the throttle to match the revs/boost. It seems like if I just mash the pedal into the floor below 2k rpm, I get a puff of smoke and it bogs down a little. It'd be interesting to fill the space above the intercooler with ice cubes (is there a supermarket nearby? ) to see what effect that has, as there is a noticeable drop off in power on hot days and/or when I've been caning it for a while.

I'll put it on record here that I'd be very chuffed with anything over the nice round figure of 100 bhp! Especially given that the engine has done well over 200k miles, the last 70k of which have been after tweaking.

Hi Hilary - I'll bring the money I owe you for the gearbox.

As for the dyno, I'm just curious about what Timex is putting out, especially considering the mix and match origins of the engine!

Good fun!

The smoke isn't actually as bad as it looks, although I would hesitate to use the phrase 'pulls cleanly'...it mainly clears once the turbo spools up properly:
