Re: Two lovely TZD autos on car&classic
I just bought the Grey BX from Shaun Lloyd, to replace the MK 1, I bought a few months ago from E Bay,
its been restored and is ready for collection from Wolsey Motors Diss, but I find its too difficult with a manual, now and will have to stick to autos in future,

Re: Two lovely TZD autos on car&classic
Both manual and auto BXs are quite easy to drive. Auto's seem to be getting quite rare these days. Glad i have both but seem to prefer the manual's but happy with either. What's your problem with a manual?

Re: Two lovely TZD autos on car&classic
Can't say I'm a fan of BX manuals. It's not a nice gearchange and the clutch is often too heavy. Tim's GT was quite nice - clearly less miles means everything is a bit tighter - but I've driven a great many cars that are a lot better in this regard (as well as some that are worse!).

Re: Two lovely TZD autos on car&classic
The problem Ian is the clutches are normally tired, a new clutch will make a huge difference! Can't wait to fit one to the RD as it's buggered.

Re: Two lovely TZD autos on car&classic
The gearchange is always a disappointment though. Just sort of clunks around. I blame Peugeot. IIRC, the TXD Turbo had fairly recently had a clutch. PSA stuff is never as light as it could be. My 306 DTurbo was horrific.

You think? I think the gear change on the GT is lovely.

Re: Two lovely TZD autos on car&classic
Got to agree the one in my TZD is a disappointment too, although to be fare I don't recall any of my previous BX's being so. It changes ok but definitely something lacking, I did a gearbox oil change using Total BV but didn't make any difference. The wife who drives it most of the time has never complained and it is her favourite of all the BX's we've owned so perhaps it's just me being picky but I know what Ian means.Dollywobbler wrote:The gearchange is always a disappointment though.

Re: Two lovely TZD autos on car&classic
No issue with it being a manual its just my left knee gives up after 10 minutes of changing gear,
never had a problem with the clutch or the gear change they all seemed quiet positive The MK1 1986 GT19 has only done about 53,000 miles and seems to be in great condition, Wolsey Motors has just reconditioned everything so he car drives like a
new car all fluids changed, underside cleaned wax oiled and under sealed new stainless brake pipes front to back, new tyres etc, new exhaust, All that work and money, I wont be able to keep it as I have a ZX1.9 auto The new BX auto from Shaun, and all the garages are full or other cars and bits so only room for one not two BX's , I threw out a Bentley Arnage T from the garage last week to make room for the BX MK1 a much nicer car by far, So any one want a MK1 in spot on condition let me know,
