Forgotten treasure
Forgotten treasure
Today when getting the Christmas decorations down from the loft "joy O deep joy ", I came across a cardboard box which I have not open since I had been in this house over 20 years now, and contents I had completely forgotten about, way back in the late 70,s, I started keeping scrap books this consisted of cuttings from newspapers on every type of car manufactured, although Citroens are by far the most cars featured, I even have an article from the western evening herald a plymouth newspaper dated Tuesday 5 October 1982, talking about the Audi 100 2.2 and the Citroen BX, also in the box was lots and lots of Citroen brochures a great many of them are to do with the Citroen BX, I even have a Citroen carrier bag which I'd got from the NEC in the very early 80's, and two toy Citroen cars 1 with made Great Britain on the bottom the other made in England how things have changed.
I have only had a very little time to flick through them, although I was surprised and delighted it was tempered with sorrow reading about British car manufacturing which now no longer exists NO thanks to the Wicked Witch.
I suppose the moral of the story is to check your loft you never know what delights are there waiting to be rediscovered.
Stephen

Re: Forgotten treasure
In my loft there are hundreds of old bike magazines, umpteen dead computers, a home plating laboratory (Zinc, Nickel, Copper, anodizing), a couple of old guitars, and an owl which craps over anything that's not covered up.
In the attic of the barn there's most of a BX TD and most of a 2CV, as well as half a dozen bicycles....

Re: Forgotten treasure
The barn itself is full of a pretty much everything in my signature! Must put some more upper floors in and some kind of cunning vehicle lift....

Re: Forgotten treasure
The most cunning barn has no lift but a lowering barn roof. Apparently bereft of space it will be left alone, secure in its insignificance - or continue to sink into the swamp you inadvisedly built it.
I hope you have a shed demag. Every man should have a shed. If you have a shed there is hope!

Re: Forgotten treasure
I have a shed... but I've extended it and I call it the workshop - not that there's any space to actually work in there Guitars are hanging on proper wall clamps in a corner of the living room - one of them is decent so needs to be looked after. Home plating kit is in the kitchen along with other items of amateur chemistry - shellac coating, etchants, wood preservers and cleaners, ball mills, chemical balances etc. Solvents and film stock are in the fridge where they should be

Re: Forgotten treasure
There is great possibility of Bubble rebuilds in my Kitchen next winter, if its cold.
Indeed we are working on topless Messerschmitt, steady!, storage in the attic via a cunning false inner gable end to the said kitchen and two dropping purlins that turn into ramps. Attach winch from staircase and wind. That maybe going to far..... but it would consume the collection of 8 cars leaving the hack to drive about in .
Flight of fancy further, and I fear where classic cars might be heading, each car can have a LED screen in front and we can go upstairs with and go on virtual run-outs and burnups stored in a computer. Strangely the program will see whichever car I am in as the fastest .
I know of several virtual rallies having taken place. On the agreed date people meet on Faecesbook or somewhere and post pics of their chosen car on a specific page as a rally. Already people who do not own cars, but can bore for Britain on the history whilst being allergic to tools, are posting pictures of someone else's car and spending two weeks pretending to own it .
Aaaaaaaargh! My gun please . Trouble is its free. Doing it our way cost time, money and tax .
