It's OK Tim you can tell your Mum it is not a Savings Account it is a Losing Account....courtesy of our fine banksters and politicians. You might as well spend the money now and have fun, inflation is the main enemy for the next few years unless you use gold or bitcoin.... :D

Only proviso is don't borrow, otherwise you are playing the game like a good little joe public.

I could sell the Minor and SD1 and make a few quid on them, also the GT would easily find a home but I would rather enjoy them than have a few more quid to spend on other stuff I dont need!

Ooo don't apologise. Personally, I prefer the more continental and existentially speculative kind (such as this) to the much drier analytics and logic - that can be such a bore - don't you agree?

Mulley, get yourself a drive in a BX16V. Then you will probably decide the project is well worthwhile.
That car is a project, but not a complete restoration.

It might be clever now, but it won't be in the morning!

I've already made the decision to get the car back on the road, its going to cost a bit, but hopefully at the end i'll have one of the nicest valvers alive today. Only trouble is sourcing a few parts as some prices seem a bit high, any ideas on where to get a decent full headset from, i can hardly find any?

Sorry missed that. Erm, no there's not really a chance. G-SEG isn't a complete BX anymore and Mulley's has gone in the tunnel. Red shell is round the corner in another yard, but I couldn't be arsed to push it. And BAH is at home.

There you go, £1000 for a similar car. And yours doesn't have rusting A-pillar tops :!:
Was thinking on chasing the one in question on this thread. Did not fall right for dosh/other guys interested prior. Bought the one above on eBay, but off it - if you get my drift, instead. Got to take a calculated risk and jump. You can wait for ever for the right deal not to come along. Strangely ownership often brings forward another unknown option and a rotation of cars brings happiness. You just do not know. Anyway once someone with a BX braincell has looked at this white car I will know if I have been a bit to brave. Its certainly out of my comfort zone as a car to inspect and purchase. I can value most bubblecars within about 5% of the on the road value generally. Learning tends to cost money but repeating the same tricks gets damned boring.

I've been buying parts & getting them sent to Kitch, so far i've got:

Cambelt kit
Water Pump
HeadGasket Kit
Headbolts
Magnecor kv85 ignition leads
Almost half of the cambelt covers - still looking for the rest of those bits

Kitch is sourcing me a TPS & engine core plugs (this is the reason the head is having to come off).

Still need to get hold of an oil pressure switch/sensor.
Exhaust system is a bit shite, but i'll get that sorted when its back up with me.
The speedo doesn't work, presume its the cable, so i'll need to get one of those.
There is some welding to get done, not much though :)
Apparently it pulls to one side a bit, so something suspension related i guess.
I'll get Kitch to do a dyno run to make sure that everything engine related is spot on.

So after all of the above, i've got no idea on what else will need doing. Its a bit of a pain being so far away, as there is stuff that i could be doing myself, but by the time i add up the fuel, overnight stay somewhere, its probably going to work out cheaper to let Kitch weave his magic, but he's mega busy at the mo, so hopefully he can start on it sooner rather than later, luckily he found some elcheapo storage, so thats not a drain on resources :)
