P2 16v
Sadly my 16v has been off the road since just after its last MOT due to what I thought was head gasket failure.
I have replaced head gasket, new starter motor and battery. However engine will now not rotate by hand (plugs out ), possible seized engine, conrod failure.
Will be very upset to see it go have spent over £2k on it since August 2012 with lots of work carried out by chevronics. No longer have the space or facilities to get back on the road.
Still has over 2 months tax and Mot until August, could be easy job for someone with the correct facilities.
Open to reasonable offers,
Car is complete with no bits missing, also has a boot load of spares. PM me for more info.

Any pictures of your car and what sort of ball park figure are you looking at for the car in its current state ?

Re: P2 16v
Would be looking for around £900 for it. Considering what's already been done.
The p2 wheels x5 have 4x avons on, all with loads left on.
Chevronics replaced fuels lines, did earthing ( only bit needed for mot )
They did cambelt kit, full service. Change drivers side window components as wasn't working.
And a load more, it has folders full of history.
In bits it's worth more but it really needs someone with the space and knowhow to save it.
Loving home is more important to me then cash for bits. PM me for pictures (email)

Re: P2 16v
Sounds like the only way for this car is for someone BX-minded to re-engine it...?

Re: P2 16v
It rotates 180 degrees then clunk all timing marks are line up so presume its dropped a rod.

Re: P2 16v
HI, just a thought, did it turn over alright before it was taken apart?
Sounds more like valve timing or I have come across carbon flaking off valves/pistons then stopping the piston going right up (mainly on engines that have been stored)

Re: P2 16v
Have you tried turning it with the plugs out?
If the Gasket replacement hasn't gone quite right you could have hydralicaly locked it with coolant...?

Re: P2 16v
might be easier to drop the sump first - that way you can see if there is anything broken in the bottom end preventing rotation. Check that the timing belt & gears are all clear with nothing causing obstruction - like some foreign body that fell or was left in!? It's not in gear of course, with handbrake on, is it Steve

Re: P2 16v
I agree - drop the sump, it could be the oil pump chain getting stuck, for example.

Re: P2 16v
If only the head has been off, then my guess is its simply something put back wrong.
Probably the timings incorrect and a piston is kissing a valve.

Re: P2 16v
thank you for all your advice, sorry for those interested but I have now decided the car will stay.
having stripped it back yesterday, I found that one of the valve stems had snapped ( due to me being an idiot, messed up the timing )
I took the head of, and there it was. took it out and pistons turn 360 freely and went up and down as they should.
VERY HAPPY face, getting the head reconditioned so will soon be back and running.
