BX GTi 8v - Ven Red, Low Mileage.

Post by Enda »

Hi folks,

Hi folks, I'm going to sell the BX, as I need a car that I can transport my dogs in, etc. They haven't had a sniff of the BX interior and I want to keep it that way! It's at 79,500 miles and is currently standing me at €1800, so I'll give €50 back for luck = €1750. Tax is up this month so I'd like to sell it this week or weekend at the latest. It's NCTd until October 2014 and I have some history and the original bill of sale with it. Let me know if you're interested, here's the Dondeal.ie link: http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/c ... ge/6332782" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Regards, Enda.

Air suspension??? :?

Your road tax in Ireland seems high. We in UK feel aggrieved our road tax is high but at 710 Euros that's almost 3 times our rate.

Good luck with the sale, someone will get a really nice sporty and comfortable car. :D

My Dad can vouch for that road tax being high in Ireland!

Mum has the opposite problem with her Beetle though - cheap tax, no MOT, but because it's used for more than just shows and rallies the insurance is over twice that of my Dad's!

Tax on a 2.9 to 3L is twice that. Anything over 3L is about €1800! :(

That's why my Dad hasn't chopped his TD Golf in for a Disco! He has looked into getting a newer car with cheaper tax too, but the additional expenditure isn't worth it for the mileage he does.

I've decided to tax and drive the BX for another 3 months; the timing on the next car becoming available and this car selling isn't working out. Also, January isn't a good month for selling cars! It'll be up for sale against the end of April, so let me know if you're interested.

Hi folks, I'm bumping this up as I just got a replacement car. The BX needs a back box and 2 x ball joints, an Irish main dealer quoted 55 and 45 for these parts. Price is now lower at €1500 and reflects the work needed. Thanks, Enda.

All BX sills are black, unless you mean why have they recently been painted? in which case its because overtime the black tends to fade, so a quick paint & they look smart again, a bit like the door frames which start to look tired.

Matt, But not on the St.Tropez models

I think what Ross is possibly referring to is just the Rear wheel arch cover/spats which were in a coloured plastic near to the body colour and then later models were painted the same as the vehicle body colour, he's obviously got his terminology slightly incorrect :?

Unless I've got it completely wrong !

I should have been more specific. What I should have said is: why did the sills need repainting, and why (from an aesthetic point of view) continue the black paint up the the leading edge of the wheel arch?

Just curious, as I did consider buying this car when the previous owner was selling it and don't recall seeing the present colour scheme in his photos...

I thought my earlier post had made that clear? Because the black fades, so it looks shit, thats why most owners re-paint them.

Not all sills were black. I think the St Tropez had body coloured sills - as Richard pointed out - and the Athena definitely did.
