I'll go through the bad points first... I've had enough of trying and failing to fix an air leak in to the fuel system, so it'll stall every 5-10 mins unless you're on full throttle for most of the time (i.e. it's fine storming along A/B roads, but bad in traffic). It might be an easy fix that I've missed, or it might be something more serious to do with Diesely magic, but that's the risk you take - I'm just fed up of it. I'm fairly certain it needs a new accumulator sphere as the tick time is down to 5-6 seconds, there are a couple of small oil leaks and a small LHM leak from somewhere around the accumulator sphere, it leaks in rain water from the top of the windscreen, and the sun-roof switch can be a bit temperamental.

Apart from that it's basically spot on, I've spent the past 6 months making it tidy, the interior is immaculate, the outside is decent with a few very small dings/scrapes, it's 99.9% rust free, it'll do 50mpg quite easily, and run on bio/veg if you are so inclined, as it has the Bosch pump.

The hubcaps on it are "custom" painted (by me) TZD caps with dark grey centre panels. The roof and spoiler have been rattle canned (again by me, quite well though) as they had bad lacquer peel when I got the car. It had a clutch change about 10,000 miles ago, the rear window is only 6 months old, I retrofitted the "one touch" driver's window switch from an old 16V, it's got a set of tailored floor mats that haven't seen many miles, I could go on. I've done loads of stuff to it to make it really neat and tidy which you can read about here on RetroRides- http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/ ... n-bx-19txd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Unfortunately I've reached my bandwith limit on photobucket so the photos don't appear in the thread and I can't embed them here, but here's a link to my account with all the photos on it, in reverse order to chart the progress I made with the car - http://s192.photobucket.com/user/supra4 ... t=3&page=9" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The car comes with a few spares and the Thule roof bars pictured in Willy's for sale thread (first link). I'll be keeping the stereo and sub, but leaving in the speakers (only cheap jobbies but they still sound better than the originals).

I'll clean the car up and take some up to date pictures tomorrow and try to add them on here.

Oh and I'm still using the thing daily, so it is perfectly capable of long distance driving, you just need to have your wits about you to make sure it doesn't stall in a dangerous place as it takes 15-20 secs to start up again.

The car also has a set of 5 month/6,000 mile old Yokohama tyres on, with plenty of tread left.

Any questions, please feel free to ask/PM me.

Nice looking car & its a shame that you've done all that work on it & not been able to fixe the air getting into the fuel :( Can you run through the list of things that you've checked/changed when trying to diagnose air getting into the fuel system? I presume if it was working fine, you wouldn't be selling?

Beat me to it posting on here. It's really bad that I can't take this on myself at the moment, I really hope someone takes it on as it sounds like an excellent car once the last couple of niggles are resolved.

Well, via the use of clear hose, I've checked all the fuel lines running to the filter housing - no air bubbles before the filter, and there aren't any bubbles coming out of the filter housing, which has a well sealed lid and a brand new o-ring on the white thermostatic valve. The injector leak off pipes I changed and that didn't make a difference, the fuel tank pick up gauze filter is spotless, the fuel filter is brand new, I've tried smearing grease around every pipe joint/union going to the pump because I couldn't get any clear hose in place there, and that's about it I think... so who knows, maybe I missed something obvious!

I want to get rid of it now anyway, the whole stalling issue has soured my experience with the car a bit, so I'd still shift it on even if it magically fixed itself. Don't get me wrong though, I'm proud of what I achieved making the car so tidy cosmetically and I've enjoyed BX ownership - they are fantastic cars when they're working properly. I count myself lucky to have had no problems with the suspension too! (apart from a little leak!)

I've had some interest over on Retro Rides, so the old girl may be moving up to Lancashire by the end of the week!

That would be my first car, a '92 City E 998, my daily for 3 years from when I started driving until I got the BX 6 months ago.

I like what you did to the hub caps. They have to be the best BX hub cap design to start with I think.

Me neither, but I think we're in a minority. I did wonder what a kind of yin-yang design in black and white would look like...
