Philip Chidlow wrote:Excellent. I know you'll try to - and if you can find a team-mate that'd be dandy.
I'm sure, as you say, something will come up...

I think I am able to add Mike E to the list too, as I'm pretty sure he'll come along; and Matt F too? Andy said he would try and another Andrew with his Xantia... Geoff's preparing a BX and hopefully Mike S will drag a lovely old crate to France too lol!

That's potentially ten cars already. I hope there will be more though :)
Hmm, Slush fund for Gendarmes who will have ample opportunity to fine 'Rossbeefs' in there silly British BX. I fart in your general direction. Your father was was hamster and your mother smelt of elderburrisse. Sorry wrong trip coming in there.

Hmm2, If I need to go to Lherme I could offer the environs as a free campsite either as part of the run, or if I had to be down there anyway. On that basis could organize a meal in the local Mayorie for the evening. Unbelievable value from Mme Pinto. Still probably less than normal camping fees a head. The locals would undoubtedly join in a celebration. Jon Pressnell lives in the village, so guest of honour! Last time we had them doing Plungez when anyone shouted Duck, which was the basis of the 7 course meal. Who says the French are stuck up and do not understand British humour. But then this is part of old Aquitaine and has a sprinkling of the hard Basque people who do seem to have a lot in common with the West Brits.

It's not inconceivable that we could alter that night's stop over, and it only makes the next day's route 272 miles long once I've refined it slightly.

Let's keep it open as an option.

Where were you thinking of stopping? Sounds like a bit of a chunk, but then France is big. Hmm, might be in the map, if it is ignore question.

Wednesday 17th June: Drive to Pau. Taking the mountain route via St. Girons and Bagneres de Luchon, Gourette, etc. Opportunities for getting off the track too. Overnight: http://www.camping-belair64.com/UK/Accueil.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thursday 18th June: Depart Pau. We travel to Agen via Eauze and Nerac and travel through lovely Bastide country to Cahors and the campsite near there. Timings mean a lunch in or near Agen (where I used to live) and afternoon tea in Cahors. Overnight: http://www.domainequercy.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

------------------------------

Day Eight: For the end-of-event dinner in Alençon a more cost-effective option than the Ibis for the budget conscious... (that'll be everyone then IME :) ) is the B&B Hotel opposite the Buffalo Grill where we can book a table closer to the time.

chaque petit aide
Yep here we are.

Hmm3 Might be able to offer a similar deal the day before with a mate who lives near ying tong iddle I Pau. Has interesting cars, but no Citroens, as far as I know.

Gourdan is not to far north, but it would depend if you were to go to Cahors still. Though one could swing back the day before, its about 20 miles, Cahor to L'herme, but a deviation over the hills is fantastic and a bit further. If we have a major bunfight in the evening there might be a few slow starters in the morning. Anyway I will have to look into this. Not least in terms of car. I want to visit the bridge. Seeing Nick Poll in his gaff near Pau would be fun. I will find the address.

The Buffalo Grill at Alencon I have been in. It was where my sister ordered Buffalo Wings and was disappointed. I have no idea what she expected, Fred Flintstone springs to mind!

Great, sounds like this could get even more interesting. Keep us posted. The campsite near Gan (S of Pau) is quite diddy but gets good reviews by the way. Would your mate be near there? My thought about free campsite offers (don't get me wrong) are, with maybe 12-20 blokes the washroom facilities / fosse septique will be under some strain! And some aren't alive until they've had their showers. :)
