If I had the space time and money I'd also buy this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131102135295" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And being an auto Liz'd drive it too. Shame it'd only do high 20's mpg in real world driving.

Things have a habit of turning around sometimes so I'm back on the work treadmill. Hopefully a little more secure.

And it's 34 days and running since I had alcohol. Don't miss it. Blimey. What's wrong with me? lol

Talking B____X

Post by Philip Chidlow »

I sort of started this before Christmas knowing however, that I'd have a drink or two around the festive period. But since waking up on New Years Day I have not touched a drop and, as I feel at the moment I don't seem to want to do anything but carry on. It's helpful that we're doing it together (Liz too) and between us we've lost a few pounds in January, and saved approx £300 in the month too....

I might have a glass of wine or three on holiday in July but there's no obligation to do that either of course.

If it was forever it would be no bad thing. But I'm not convinced that's entirely likely.

:)

Lol! Well, two people drinking wine most days will spend that over a month. Most ok wine is pushing 7 quid a bottle now.

Diesel autos are fine, just remember when you pull away from the lights theres a slight delay in pick up. Saying that a 1.9D ZX isnt a GTi.

A little red wine is meant to be good for you ~wine~ . On the other hand £300 is a life choice amount of dosh. I plumped for blueberries in my porridge as it offers many of the same benefits. But all the building/moving has meant very poor eating habits and I am as fat as ever. Need a nagging lady friend or more will power. Maybe getting the place more sorted now will help. Certainly some very pleasant singles round here but unless they are into bulldogs I think my chances are as slim as I am fat!
BX is a great car for fatties. It tends to hid the fact till you get out. Mind you it maybe why mine wees LHM and sighs occasionally :? .

I will continue to abstain for as long as can. But moving on, I will enjoy losing some weight as well as saving money (ok maybe £300 was a little liberal but not much ;) ) and getting the ZX through its imminent MOT, picking up the 75 and... so on!

On the ZX front, very pleased with the Riken tyres and Brembo discs/OE pads combo.

I go out for a drink with my mates every fortnight now, instead of every week and I've started buying a pint of blackcurrant and soda in every other pub. Some pubs are charging nearly £4 a pint FFS, whereas a soft drink is as cheap as £1.20.

I'll have the occasional bottle of Stella Artois 'Cidre' at home if I'm in the mood, but as I see it, money saved on beer, is fuel in the tank of the car. :-)

A proper beer is good for you too, in moderation. But wine can be cheaper than our traditional couple of pints now. All about overheads. Might go back to brewing my own, however part of a pint is the fellowship of the local pub and it annoys me that this is taxed and controlled, see smoking ban.

A good cider is hard to beat I admit. Even alcohol free cider is a lot better than alcohol free beer - and as for alcohol-free wine yueeech!

Back on the topic of cars, I intend to give the ZX a bit of a treat should it pass the MOT on Friday OK; it'll be in the form of a trip to Boxall Engineering.... :) once the weather improves. A short list of mods to undertake.

Was thinking of car work today. I think not, its 'orrible. Does a car have to be waterproof for an MOT. Probably as it will not get there!
