It is, in fact it looks like it's just come out the factory!

Good work Kevan, looks like we'll have similar white BXs. Is yours a tzd?

Yes the white one is a TZD although I was actually looking for a nice TGD at the time.

Re: Defenders Blog, TZD coming up for sale.

It is looking increasingly likely that we will have to part with the TZD at some point this year. This is my wife's everyday commuter / school run car but her mothers health is deteriorating and as her caring role is increasing we need to start looking for a taller car that her mother can get into easier. I do have the number of a local guy who is very keen to own the car and left a note under the windscreen wiper before approaching Helen to express an interest in buying the car but though I would put the heads up on here in case of fellow BXC interest. I will put up a more detailed description with pictures when I get chance but basically it is a totally rust free car that has been maintained by me for the last 4 years with no expense spared mechanically. I bought it with genuine low 76,000 miles with full history from a young forum member who bought it from the original owner but was unable to insure the car so moved it onto me. There was slight rust issues behind the rear bumper area which was cut out and new steel professionally welded in and a similar repair to the near-side front inner wing (All pictured in this blog/links). The car now remains totally rust free and thoroughly wax-oiled. Mechanically during my ownership it has had the rear crankshaft oil seal replaced and a complete clutch was fitted as a precaution at the same time. The rear camshaft seal was also replaced keeping the engine bone dry from oil leaks. The timing belt was done with all pulleys and water pump and all genuine Citroen parts (£379 IIRC) and front crankshaft oil seal as a standard precautionary measure. New alternator, battery and belt, all four glow plugs, 4 x new Michelin tyres on graphite speedlines, Oil and filters replaced annually and has only ever been run on top branded diesel. I was going to replace the front discs and pads this year along with handbrake cables and will still do so or supply the parts with the car. The car remains leak free and dry, the interior is as good as they get. Although the bodywork is 100% rust free I am not a polisher and it would benefit from a good cutting back and polish.
This will be a genuine reluctant sale but I cannot store the car as I already have my favourite TGD Auto in dry storage along with Land Rover Defender and MG Midget projects.
The car has very recently just clocked 100,000 miles and is used daily so will increase accordingly. I don't think you will find a better more genuine example out there with the only known fault being the intermittent fuel gauge which appears to have a mind of it's own. I do have a genuine Citroen fuel sender unit that I bought which didn't cure the problem which I assume now lies with the dash pod. When the fuel gauge isn't working properly I just rely on the orange low fuel warning light to know when it needs fuelling.
I will be looking for around the £1000 mark , please PM if you think you would be interested or have any questions. Links to the story of the car with me and before are linked in this blog.
I am looking for a specific nice low mileage Mercedes W169 Series 2 'A' Class Diesel Elegance Auto as a replacement vehicle and will sell the BX when I have found the right car in the right colour/interior.

Further details and pictures as was and still is here;

I would have thought you might get a little bit more than a grand for it Kevan? That TGD is spectacular, probably the best one left? =D>

Yes quite probably Paul but it's not really about the money on this one, if I do sell it then it needs to go to the right home. I'm still trying to figure a realistic way round it at the moment but having 2 BX's parked up not in use is not an option as I don't have the room. I wanted to give Helen my Kangoo 4x4 dive bus and me use the TZD just taking the Kangoo back at weekends when required but Helen does not like or want the Kangoo :-(.
Yup the TGD is a beauty and will hopefully one day be my everyday car again.

What a gorgeous car...!
I think it is exactly the same as my dad's.
Does it have a black interior?
I am sure it will find a good home if you can part with it.

Ordered a complete set of OEM front brakes for the TZD , discs , pads & calipers from my local factor Friday lunchtime and they were ready to collect Saturday morning without any supply issue. Nice brand new not remanufactured Bendix Calipers :D .

Whilst stripping the discs and checking other items it became apparent the bottom ball joints needed replacing too, I have several sets of genuine ones in my own parts stock so changed these at the same time.

Is the hard sell starting now, with all these photos of shiny new bits? ;) Regarding the brakes - I've not had great long term success with reconditioned calipers from GSF and ECP (perishing rubber, slop in the sliders, and seal failure within 40k miles) and am now back to using good second hand units. I do have some Bendix seal kits in stock for when these need doing though.

Here's an idea: Finish the 110 to use as a dive bus, buy the A Class for Helen, sell the Kangoo to me to replace my Focus and keep the TZD as your daily?

No it's the 'Hard I would be mad to sell so won't' I'm giving to myself by pampering it. ;-)

Yes same as, I have had too many failed so called recon units so won't use them on my own vehicles unless original OEM new units are not available.

The Kangoo was only supposed to be a fill in until the Defender was finished but I like the Kangoo that much that I am seriously considering just moving the Defender on as soon as it is finished and keeping the Kangoo.

In all seriousness I must have been having a moment of madness and don't think for one minute I will be selling the TZD.

Glad to hear you're thinking of keeping it. But I would be interested to hear what you think of the Trekka - specifically real world economy compared with your TZD? It's struck me that a lot of what I use a vehicle for would be best with a small van or similar, and I do have a bit of respect for the Kangoo. A contractor where I used to work had one (non-4x4) of similar age to replace a SWB Transit. Everyone said he would kill it within 6 months as it was very much used as a tool, but it kept on going!

My next door neighbour did similar, replacing a Transit with a 2wd Kangoo and liked it so much that when it got written off he bought another. It lead a really hard life for 6 years or so before he changed it for a Caddy, and although well battered it never let him down.

My new comfort spheres that I ordered from Belgium (as in this thread, http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 2&start=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) arrived this morning and I fitted them in my lunch hour. looking forward to noticing an improved/softer ride on my way home from work hopefully. There was nothing wrong with the old ones which I will keep for spares and get the pressure checked at Westroen before fitting when needed.
