tzd turbo 1st breakdown in 6yrs

Driving home from work yesterday engine just suddenly died, turned over but no go, after a quick look under the bonnet found a broken wire that that goes to the solenoid on the fuel pump, had no tools at all in car apart from an electrical tester(usually do but put the toolbag in the boot of the gti after a sudden downpour at the weekend) called the AA who quoted an hour wait, so ingenuity ensued. Cut the crocodile clip off the electrical tester with a pocket knife and wrapped the wire round it clipped it on the solenoid, job done. Got me the 10 miles home.

indeed i called them straight back, dont you just love the simplicity of the bx diesel, and a total cost of 15p for a new ring terminal. Bargainous.
