NEC 14-16 November 2014 - oh well, better luck next year ...

Post by Caffiend »

I need to print out and complete the application form. BY HAND. With a PEN. Then scan and e-mail it. I'm going to stop banging my head on this table now because it feels nice when you stop.

When I've done that, we should hear back in April or May whether we have a stand this year, whereupon the begging posts will recommence - we have carpet, we will need to renew PL insurance, it would be nice to have electricity and the Lancia "towers" were a fantastic landmark, we want some of those if funds will run to it, so we can be the landmark.

Cars - last year's selection was a storming success by anyone's measures - in terms of how we chose 'em and the results of the votes. Which means the process will be exactly the same this year unless anyone has any better ideas: when we know whether we've got a stand we'll start a selection thread, poll will open July-ish and close August-ish so the lucky chosen have 3 months or so to tart up their P&Js.

Discuss away, dictat as per 2013 is that all ideas, comments, suggestions are welcomed, no actual decisions (except for me not having food poisoning this year) will be made until we know whether we're "in" again.

You don't need to ask for my help, just let me know what you need and of course we have space to house a few people.

The GT or TZI will be available for the stand but not sure about the estate.

I'm free that weekend, plus they days leading up so Count me in as a helper! Whether Fred or Mitch will be in a state to join in I don't know, but should do so when we start nominations.

One thought on a landmark for the stand, several years back the CCC stand had an Eiffel tower made out of plastic pipe on top of an H van - we could do a suitably scaled version to attach to the roof rails of an estate!

I decided last year that I'd be up for helping out on the stand this year. Had a great time, even with all the shit that got thrown my way! :)

Should we have a BX Sport this time? There are a few floating around in the UK now it seems, but most folk will know nothing about them.

Good idea, as Hilary now has one I think it would be ace, if he is in agreement?.

It's certainly a car worthy of the stand from what I saw of it the other day.

Sandre, thanks for going to the trouble of organising the BXC rabble once more. Here's hoping for another successful application. :-)

Indeed, 2012 was not bad for a first outing, this year if we get the go ahead we need to get the flags and totem poles sorted.

Also if anyone has original Citroen signage?

I know someone with a collection of signs, but getting him to loan them out may be difficult. What may be easier is borrowing a couple of Citroen flags and some bunting from him. He has some Michelin stuff too - they sent it to him after he asked them for stuff a few years back.

Another suggestion is looking into vertical roll out free standing banners. They seem to come up on ebay a lot and are fairly cheap. A couple with BXClub signage on may be good, and at least as versatile as the banners we already have.
