Oh dear, there I was thinking it was difficult. Well, isn't the internet a wonderful thing.

Do people actually fall for this stuff, do you think? Especially when a google search will give you the info on the first page.

Tell you something; this looks very much like Rene's BX 16V ser1 that was pinched a couple of years back.

Old Photo or I wonder if he knows where it is?

Anybody recognise it?

Given that the wiper is parked on the RHS of the car, it's either LHD or a mirrored picture.

Rene's car was a phase 2 16v, had 5 spoke wheels and is not likely to even be seen again as the theory is it was crushed within a week of being stolen.

Id also go for it being a LHD car as well, if only on the basis that the picture looks sunny and we know that doesnt happen in the UK! :D

For the same reason they're nicking irreplaceble Henry Moores from around the country - scrap value, and it's easier than an honest job.

A Henry Moore cut up will look like engineering waste but don't you need documents for a car to be accepted as scrap? Surely a car is higher risk than expected return for this sort of activity? What is estimated scrap value anyway?

Don't really think petty crims make a risk assessment. I was listening to a magistrate and a criminologist on the radio the other day. The mag said that prison works as a deterrent. The criminologist said that none of the little thugs he spoke ever expected to get caught. The statistics bear this out, unfortunately.

Scrap values are going up as China and India gear up their industrial revolution. We had a leaflet through the door the other day asking for any old iron. It's obviously worth someone's while to flyer whole streets of houses.

And as for papers, well...

But this is only conjecture on my part.
