What a lovely day.....

....for the clutch to go, thought it felt a little heavy.

Of all the listings on the bay for a gti 8v clutch kit which would be the preferred choice as they are all priced around the same?

Replaced the clutch on the Meteor yesterday with a genuine citroen part ( Valeo) from a dealer clear out which was £30 on EBay .
It's like a new car with a very light pedal why did I not do it sooner?

Putting the pedal down in my new BX results in a lot of noise (thrust bearing?), and the action is quite stiff. I think a new clutch is going to have to happen. My silver TXD had a non-Valeo clutch in it. Judder ahoy! Not recommended.

check the rear calipers aren't sticking, usually felt with a more than usual dip on the rear end when moving off. easily sorted.

Also check that the pivots on the actuating arm aren't seized - mine started slipping 25k ago, freed off the pivots and it was fine until a couple of weeks ago when I had to have the box out anyway as fifth gear had gone missing. Friction plate was entirely smooth but not quite down to the rivets, so I think I got my money's worth out of that!

When i first brought the car i suspected the clutch was near the end, very stiff pedal with little bite etc, only when i took it for a good thrash it started to slip in 4th, hopefully will last another week or so, but with its low speed hesitation prob still lurking makes driving in traffic interesting, its on my "to do" list next week whilst the injectors are away being cleaned, have checked the pivots and the arm looks quite new, it defo clutch time..the joys...

I actually spoke with M.L recently he helped me out with a few hard to find o/e bits for my gti, and a very reasonable price too, with a vast knowledge and very helpful. I will give him a call.

Sorry mistype! I stripped the rear brakes and reassembled when I'd finished the rear arm bearings. Got rid of the sticking at low speeds- I recommend it. Must affect fuel economy..
