A registration thread?

Post by Kitch »

Had an idea on the way back from picking up ANOTHER BX today - why don't we start a thread where you can list all the cars you own, or have owned (with brief info such as when bought/sold and the rough mileages etc) with the registration numbers? That way, anybody who searches Google for info on a car they used to own, or a car they now own will be able to get in touch with previous owners.

I don't think there's a security issue with displaying reg numbers - half our cars probably come up on Google images anyway, and anybody driving down the road gets a fairly good view of your plate

If you're really paranoid, you could still put some astrixes over the number section and wear a tin-foil hat or something.....

Sounds good - may be worth checking if this is the right format for it, as a full database or spreadsheet may work better. Dunno how you could link one to the forum though.

That's over 60 vehicles for me, and I've lost the spreadsheet that had all the details on it. I'm not starting it again!

Can I have a tin foil Astrix

I was getting worried until it was to only be Citroens. Not so difficult for me.

The extra of this move is that it begins to log what cars are left to us. Might make sad reading in some cases. I think the cars can be listed by number, that is in the public domain. Choice of published name, probably, but sadly addresses and such are probably out as it is an invite for naughtiness, even if it is only spam. No reason for the fuller details not to be held in a secure place and accessed and managed by responsible bod. Thus inquiry on a reg can be assessed and passed on to those recorded as having had a hand in it.
Be aware if the cars get valuable that information will become of value.

Ah. You said 'all the cars.' Only six BXs, which is the next most common purchase after 2CVs (I've had about 14 of those).

Ahh...sorry I assumed everyone would assume I meant BXs (lots of assuming).

So yes, just BXs. I've had 11 (I think)

And I've always thought you were so unassuming!

My current ones are BX's 3, 4 & 5, plus if they can find the details I know of a 14RE that was scrapped a few years ago, and a GTi 8v that was written off in the late 90's after it's owner discovered it wouldn't fit sideways down a single track road. I might even have the registrations of a couple that have been through local scrap yards.

Think i've had around the same quantity as Kitch (although there were a few others bought to scrap/break... do they count?), might be interesting to dig out the details!

I think at least a list of registrations of scrapped cars would be useful, as we do get people on here looking for their past cars.

All true, but cars people currently own would be even more useful, surely? :)
