Front sidelights..... Not working :o(

Post by oilybox »

Hi all, ...My 1.9Diesel BX's front sidelights refuse to work, I've tried new bulbs, (they were working ok, but the bulbs blew), there IS power at the switch, because the lights-on beeper works, but there's no power at the green/brown wires leading to the front sidelight bulbholders on either side of the car..........I can't understand as the front part of the loom where these wires come from is un disturbed, the rear lights work fine..... I'm really puzzled, -can anyone shed any light, (pardon the pun, lol), on what the problem could be? M.O.T. is looming......
Thanks in advance

Might sound too obvious, but have you checked the fuse...?
I have zero patience for your tedium.

Good point,....-electrics aren't my strong point,.... I assumed that the same fuse would cover the headlights too?,.... Next question is where to find the fuse box in my BX.... Lol thanks for the pointer, though.....

It's underneath the glovebox, you should be able to locate a large screw which you can turn by hand as its got flanges on it, this will then lower the fuse box which you'll then be able to see & access, i'd us a torch as its quite dark down there.

Don't think headlamps are fused at all, from memory. Side lights are on lucky fuse 13 (easy to remember!), with LH and RH tail lights each on a different fuse (11 and 12?) next to it in the box.

Aha!..... That would explain a lot!.... A previous owner fitted some L.E.D. Daytime Running Lights, the wires of which had worn through their insulation..... Causing a small meltdown in the loom below the n/s headlight, causing the Earth wire from the loom there to eventually give up causing me starting problems..... -I managed to find and sort that eventually.....
Cheers for your help guys! ;)
