A 16v saved from certain destruction
A 16v saved from certain destruction
Well today I picked a H reg 16v up from burton on Trent, the engine had a head gasket failure and there's next to nothing compression the pistons have gone I was told, but I have some engines so shouldn't be a problem. And yes there is a but, the car needs ALOT! Of work bodywork is terrible, there's a big LHM leak from the return pipes and probably more, I will post some pics tomorrow.

Double good. A temptation and a job to far. Two best left to someone who already has the bits and some understanding of what he is doing. And relax.

How many valvers does one man need. Seriously though good luck with the work. Possibly my favourite colour too.

Re: A 16v saved from certain destruction
Well i never! Not the first time this car has had a last minute rescue
This is it in 2006 having just had a headgasket job with belts and water pump. The previous owner (Cheshire based) was something of a boy racer stuck in his youth and used to jump in and cane it from cold. Eventually it blew the head gasket and we was quoted something astronomical for fixing it so was going to scrap it. Fortunately Billy/Cavmad bought it and i did the head job on it. He drove it for a little while but decided he much preferred a 1.4 and the car was sold on to Tim Favell.
I know Tim had all manner of problems with it, and i thought it had already met its maker. Obviously not.
Between its history and Tim's experience with it, I wonder if the engine has been on the slippery slope to doom for a long while.
