front elec windows relay

Post by maxgreenwood »

The front windows on the TXS don't work, and the fuse seems ok. The relay was hot and scorched looking. I replaced it with the coolant fan switch one which is exactly the same and i think i've fried that one after a couple of initial clicks when pressing window switches and no movement from the windows. it is now dead i think. Better 'borrow' one of my others for the time being.

What's my next move?

Hi, It sounds to me like you have a short somewhere.

What is the fuse like for the electric windows? I can't remember what size it should be (possibly 30 or 20), But has that fried or is it OK?

To start with you need to find out which side is causing problems; the relay feed or the window circuits. Then what causes the problems in the window circuits (if its them) ie does it do it when a certain switch is pressed.

If the fuse is too big then it will melt the relay or wires before the fuse.

Good luck tracking it down.

Thanks David
The fuse seems ok but the circuit is killing the relay
