Rare to see a four door convertable, especially one of this age. Is this the real deal or a home made jobby do we think? If it`s the latter then it certainly looks the part.

I don't think I want to venture into 'needs a new hood' territory, myself. Would make a funky little runaround though!

My heart is in BXs and Visa GTis really - although I am enquiring about a Visa super

depends what you class as stupid...........

If you look at it, only 200 RHD decaps were made, its a rare car in good condition as they usually rot very badly due to the extra water/rust traps designed in with the soft top strengthening.

So i see it as a fair price.

Mind you the extra money needed to put the gti or GT engine in would make it expensive

Not to mention the cost of doing the hood, bodywork etc. The thing is I think the price is going to rise further, given the interest and length of time the auction has left. As is often said - a car is worth what someone is willing to pay... And I guess if you could get this car sorted and on the road for another, say £700 - on top of the £550 or so it might reach - it'd still be worth it to someone. A rare ragtop for £1200? I revise my view, Stinkwheel (good to have you back - I haven't noticed posts from you for a while BTW!)... :)

Go very carefully - they rot faster than a 70's BMC! The front inner wings dissolve, then the water rots the seam, gets into the car and rots the floor pan out. Mine is like this both sides, although it didn't look too bad on inspection, it was mostly full of filler  It's been in the garage sans interior, front wings etc for about 3 years now, waiting for me to weld it up. Also needs a new sill on the O/S, the rear quarter rebuilding, plus a few other points. I'm seriously wondering if it's actually beyond my capability (probably why it hasn't been touched in so long!)

Still, when it was running it was a hoot to drive - and you are not going to see one going the other way! I think 247 built in RHD, and the vast majority have got to have succumbed to rust by now - maybe fewer than 20 left OTR?

Go, somebody give it an enthusiast's home. You could even do this with it:

The Decap was my mates, the trailer used to be our s**t brown Visa Special - before he got to it with his angle grinder!
I NEED a BX TD.
