I'm sure you will notice a big difference! You'll probably start actively seeking out potholes to test them...

Yes I was doing the pothole test, there was definitely a slight improvement in damping but nothing too drastic. The biggest improvement was on the rear as I suspect the old o/s sphere was low on pressure. Bizarrely an improvement I wasn't expecting was that when I came out of the house this morning after 14 hours the car hadn't dropped at all and was still sat exact ride height?
The big test will come when Helen drives it as I haven't told her I've done anything, she was very impressed when I changed the bottom ball joints as this silenced the creaking that I thought was the struts but turned out to be dry ball joint and made a massive improvement to the ride, a lot more than I would have envisaged.

I'm getting fed up with crashing over potholes too and am interested in the Comfort spheres. I recently changed the rears on my TD estate for some unused but been on the shelf for a long time saloon spheres and noticed a much softer ride but not much better over potholes and yes the rear stayed up all night for several days but has now gone back to dropping after a couple of hours. I've noticed this a few times when changing parts in the system.

That's interesting, as I initially thought when I changed mine it would be a good back to back comparison between recentish standard TD spheres and the comfort ones. Although it turned out one of the rears had popped, but relying on my memory it seemed a big change...

Last year at Gaydon, I had a ride in Brian's TGD estate, and despite Timex's spheres having been regassed a few months previously, Brian's car was a much softer ride. He said that his was fitted with saloon spheres which was probably why it rode that way.

I find the length of time mine stays up can depend on all sorts of things, such as the weather, the obvious one of the load in the back, and where I've been driving. I find the bog roads round my parents place give the suspention a real work out and both the GS, Timex and the 14 I used to own rode better for a few days after being driven in Ireland.

Back end drops very quickly on the RD, but it's got the best ride of any BX I've ever owned. Far closer to Tim's GT than any BX I've ever been in. Vastly smoother than the TD BXs I owned before, even when the red one had new spheres all-round.

Well following on from this thread;

http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 2&start=45

which was then split into this thred;

http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19603

N89 GJO has now moved on to a new custodian fom this thread;

http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 20&t=19621

Rich has collected the car this morning and I feel sure it has now moved on in the right direction. Whereas I have always liked my cars structurally and mechanically A1 I have never been a polisher and cosmetic person where Rich is and has plans to now mint up the car.
I am feeling a little hypocritical now as whenever I see a car for sale with "regrettable or sad sale" I always think bollocks you wouldn't be selling it if it was regrettable; but here I am now in that exact position. It was a very genuine regrettable but unfortunately unavoidable sale once the decision to get a newer car with more safety features as a family hack had been made. Although I would have loved to have kept the TZD I simply haven't got any room left to store it and it would have declined rapidly stored outside not in use.
I'm sure the car will now survive for many years to come and be brought up to an even better condition under Rich' custody. Enjoy Rich.
I now need to sort out a new avatar.

Missing the TZD like crazy and now got that 'have I made a big mistake' feeling Doh!, simply wasn't feasible for me to keep it although Helen says we should have sold the Blue TGD and kept the TZD ;-(

Moving on to the Renault Kangoo Appreciation Society from Mat's blog; here are a few pictures of mine which is the Trekka 4x4 version and a very handy bit of kit, loads of storage space with built in lockers, air con, plus twin sunroofs one glass and one electric folding canvas 3/4 length. The glass sunroof above the driver compartment is particularly useful when I have my kayak on the roof bars ; reassuring to know it's still there ;-). The rear seats remove completely to make a twin side loading door van for extra loads but I have now fitted a dog guard which lets me load a lot of kit right up to the roof line in the back whilst maintaining the seating area. My pop-up tent stows up in roof space between the storage lockers.
