So do I. I think it will depend on if the rust is on the bolted on mechanisim and giudes, replaceable using hand tools, or if the structure of the bodyshell has significatly failed. THat will require welding, possibly awkward welding and worse in an area of visible paint.
The only way to find out is to unstick the gaffer tape, on mine, and pull the thing apart. Then the car is stuck in the garage, or something, till I can repare it. Not ideal if you have no garage, not the required skills or need to be driving the damned car you just disabled.

The sunroof cassette comes out complete as one with the roof lining through the rear hatch and is quite easy to do from memory (20 minute job) although also quite heavy so assistance may be needed.

this job does require all the plastic interior pillar trims to be removed,
this is the hardest part of the job,

the plastic trim around the rear quarter light glass becomes very brittle with age,
so it breaker very very easy on attempting to prize it away,

once they are all removed the main headlining/sun roof/chassis just drops down after undoing its fixing screws,

If its JUST the sunroof glass itself its a 5 minute job and 6 screws.

What about the 4 sunroof drain pipes? :?

Would you advocate disconnecting them at the top or unthreading them from their channels? :?:

I have the parts. I hope that is enough. None the less it is something you want to be doing with access to waterproofing in case there is a problem. All easy jobs have the potential not to be. Once done the bits left over will be spare.

i would very carefully disconnect them from the top ends, and leave them were they are,

just warm the pipes up gently with the likes of a ciggy lighter, so you are less likely to snap off the tubes they fit onto at each corner of the headlining gully/rain channel,

The Bay of E is sometimes a good source for exhausts - there's a few companies using it to sell of obsolete stock. The alternative is getting a stainless system made, but that's only cost effective if you're definately keeping the car a long time.
