195/60R14 is the right size for 6J rims. You could run 185s on them with no issue, but there would be little point in reality.

I run 185/60's on 6j alloy's, no problems to date, i bought the smaller size as they were cheaper in price compared to the 195's at the time.

I fitted a set of 6" Speedlines to my TZD fitted with 195's and it totally ruined the ride of the car, I swapped the 195's for a new set of 175/65's and transformed the ride back again and they looked fine too.

I've got a few centre caps in the garage, not sure how many.

Bids welcome by PM and i'll have a look tomorrow.

Hmmm, i was looking on mytyres & could only find 195/60/r14's with a speed rating of V for the valver, one type of tyre only??? There were plenty of 185/60/r14's, however, none went above an h speed rating, ffs, this is doubly annoying as the 185's are quite cheap in price. Anyone else found difficulities in getting hold of tyres suitable for the valver? I don't mind fitting 185's, just slightly annoyed about the speed rating, ok i may never do over 130mph, but who knows eh ;)

It's not just valvers that you struggle for tyres for - just ask Xemes about the struggle he had getting 155 width tyres for the BX he took to Ireland, and in France they can't even swap to a different tyre size!

Never bothered with the BX but played around quite a bit with tyre sizes on bikes. Eg from 120/60 X 17 to 120/70 and 110/80 on the same rim and down from 160/60 to 150/70 on rear. Steered best with 110/80 and 120/70 compared with 120/60 but only 2mm clearance to mudguard with the 110/80!. Never bothered to work out the speedo ratio difference either....

Same sort of stuff with earlier bikes from 3.50 X 18 to 100/90 X 18 which was better on front and 4.10 X 18 to 110/90 X 18 on rear. Apart from one set which gave tank slappers in a straight line at 70, never had any problem.

Not sure about French law on it but the Germans don't like you messing about either. The TUV regs are pretty tight for aftermarket exhausts and stuff.

The French will not even test a car if it's got different size tyres to those fitted at the factory. You also need identical tyres on each axle. They aren't so worried about the spare it seems until you need to use it, at which point you need to get the replaced tyre sorted ASAP. Apparently most tyre places will insist on selling you a pair of tyres if they cannot match the one on the other side of the axle, or will refuse to serve you.
