CCC - Midlands Rally - Stratford (16th of August)

Post by Vanny »

Does anyone know if there is a Midlands Rally planned this year?

Usually held in the middle of Stratford racecourse, I cant see an event entry on the CCC calendar so wonder if its happening this year?

edit
This event has been confirmed as 16th of August 2014, see below.

Doesn't look like it's taking place this year Vanny. Like yourself, I've been trying to find out, alas to no avail.

It is on...

I was told the exact dates at the D Rally, and promptly forgot them.
Due to other bookings at the racecourse, it's either the weekend of the 9th OR 16th of August this year.
Hopefully someone will be able to help further - or you could contact someone in the midlands section.

I've split the CCC discussions here...feel free to continue.

As for Stratford - it's good news that it's still on, and doubly good news (for me at least) that the date has changed. I can't make the BH weekend, and the following weekend is our wedding anniversary so would have been inadvisable to miss that!

I should be along all being well, but not in a Citroen

I've changed the title of this thread to include the proposed dates.

I guess it would be good to get something more concrete, once it's announced.

Unfortunately I'm off on a family holiday so can't make either of those dates.

Well if they're the dates, we'll be missing it this year, we had it penciled in for the usual Mats anniversary weekend!
I have zero patience for your tedium.

Sounds good there might be an event on after all, but why so late advertising, as already we have folk who are committed to be elsewhere. Whoop, Whoop ----^ risk.

I have this continual battle with the Microcar clubs about late/none advertisement of events. If you want to guarantee a low turn out, do not tell people there is an event #-o! It seems they believe its the punters fault for not looking hard enough [-( . Like the Aldebaran Bond Owners website, or some such, is all that is required. I have just returned from the biggest Microcar rally so far this year, 30 cars :-s . That used to be 90 cars and the third biggest :D . The only likely bigger event this year is the National to be held at Wetherby Racecourse in September. On this form and with bugger all facilities on site its not worth the 500 mile round trip as I do not have a campervan. Last year's National saw 125 cars at Malvern, another void for pubs, shops etc. Compare to the German Messerschmitt Club, smaller than our own Club according to boasts, who had 149 of just one marque on the road run 8)! You would go to see that even if you did not have a Messerschmitt, I think. How come they can do it and we cannot?

So Citroen folk :-$, do not make the same mistakes as our Microcar folk. Copy the Germans, get organised early, find great venues that want to celebrate ^^ ^^ and make a few bob, not venues who want to make a few bob by you celebrating Citroen. Advertise a year in advance, get the numbers booked and then shout about what the unbooked in are going to miss. Of course this means there has to be something to miss, well more than three dandelions and the village idiot !!!---))) .

Unfortunately that'll be too soon after major surgery for me to make an appearance - glad to hear it's going ahead though.
