1987 BX19 TRS Auto Estate Petrol

Post by jeremyC5 »

E129 GEW, has come to live with me and Bluey (H767 BEG) near to Cambridge now, on 1st July.
It's a nice blue, auto estate.
We trailered it back and got back safely, but had a little trouble getting it off the trailer due to the fact the suspension had lowered, and the battery was a little flat, but success in the end !!

Keith and his dad has owned it from new, so has a traceable history, with loads of paperwork to go with it.

I'm not set up yet to upload any photos, so I'm hoping Keith might upload some pics of us leaving his, when we picked it up.
I will get some uploaded in due course when time and technology allows !!

Hi James,
I'm still waiting for my mate to have time to look over Bluey before the MOT, I don't want a checklist of items to fix ! :(
I've had NO time at all recently myself, the more I try to make time, the less I seem to have of it.

- But I couldn't let the offer of a free, good condition, auto estate BX go to waste - I waited to see if anyone else wanted to take up Keith's offer first, but there seemed little interest.

- I've not even been able to get a drive yet though!! :( :( :(
Although the battery seemed flat, it was loose leads, but now those are fixed and the battery charged, it won't start, it just 'clicks' , as if it is in gear - so either a jammed starter moter, or something with the electrics which stop you starting it when it's in drive.
I've tried taking a lead directly to the starter motor, but it still doesn't turn over - there's loads in the way of getting to it !! :?

Autos do have a start inhibitor switch, on the selector I think. So if you try to start with it in anything other that P or N, it wont start. Try holding the key in start and moving the selector about just in case the switch is slightly in the wrong place.

However, you directly feeding the starter already should have disproved that.

The gearbox lockout switch is mounted on the top of the gearbox it also combines the reversing light switch has a 4 pin plug, easy to bypass to eliminate the prob.

Thanks guys, I figured that by taking a cable straight to the starter motor, after it's solenoid, would eliminate any of those scenarios - it sparks, but doesn't even try to turn.

We're off topic here, sorry #-o
.....Pictures, pictures !! - do I HAVE to have a dropbox to do it ?

I use Photobucket for pictures, nice and simple.

Upload then copy the code (which is sitting there under every picture with IMG at the start) into the text box here and picture appears.
