Just occasionally, things go well

Post by Philip Chidlow »

Ordered a pair of brand new 'Lucas' branded headlights on eBay. They arrived this morning is a nice big Valeo box, and somewhat unexpectedly they're superior Valeo ones with Cibié lenses. They aren't the ones pictured in the ad, but I'm not complaining. :)

I ordered a left hand headlamp off eBay from Walsall lamps and panels, was last one, described as brand new valeo, received new Lucas unit, they have now relisted with another 2. Cost £25 with post, did think of complaining but I suppose it was a fair price, did mention in feedback was not valeo unit though and 1 star for description!

They were sort of correct, as Lucas is now part of Valeo.

We sell Lucas lighting, mirrors and maf sensors at work, boxes are marked with ' trademark used under licence' so presumably any product can be sold in a Lucas box as long as licence fees agreed and paid, or is it like Borg & beck and crosland filters where the rights to the name have been bought by another company who then sell their products under that name.

Lucas parts are usually of a good quality so should not be a problem,

I'm sure lucas headlamps are fine, but i persoally avoid all lucas products, i bought a box of 10 stretch cv boots, after using 2 the rest went in the bin, out of 5 starters/alternators used, 3 returned faulty within 12 months, and glow plugs just as bad.
It,s a constant battle with rubbish these days!
