BX Swap maybe
Hi all. I am just throwing it out there but does anyone fancy swapping a BX saloon for my BX Estate? Mine is a 1987 1.9 Break estate in red. It is in very good condition, just the bumpers have faded but will be looking into that soon. It has done 101,000 miles and has a FULL service history. It is Taxed and MOTd. Interior good and no leaks. The car was bought by an elderly gent who sold it on after 5 years to his friend down the street. He kept it until I bought it so only 2 owners before myself. I would like a car with similar credentials, good history, engine and body please. Preferably a diesel as its my regular ride to work and I need good economy and I would consider any economical car. I don't need an estate as my camping days are now over due to illness.

Without wishing to sound rude, this is one of the strangest posts i've seen in a while
You've got a nice estate, but you want to swap it for a hatch instead which may have a miriad of faults/issues that your car may not have. There isn't much difference in length, so unless you are a terrible parker, what is the point?
Fair enough if you were wanting to swap from a manual to an auto, i could understand that reason, but what you've said makes no sense.

I completely dissagree, Estates look much more cool, especially with everything on them. Much more usefull too and you cannot disput that!! Except for MK 1 saloons, they are cool.MULLEY wrote:I agree

Estate has no power sunroof option. Its a little lighter, a little faster and a little more economical. On the other-hand you can get a huge amount of gubbins in an Estate. An Estate on a lowish mileage is unusual, as so many were used as workhorses, often towing. It is such a useful car to have around. But I agree, its not a looker.

OT, but yes I agree the estate is no looker!
Otherwise there's little to distinguish them; they drive the same, go the same (model for model), do the same. The hatch looks better; the estate carries more.
If you want to go fast, you need a hatch as they didn't make a fast estate model (unless you think a diesel BX is a fast car ), but then if you want a diesel, that goes out the window anyway as either were available with that engine.
This sounds like a more interesting/unusual estate to find these days, and IMO more interesting than the usual diesel/16v which is by far the most common BX. I just think it's a shame that the standard cooking models of BX petrols always struggle to find the caring homes. The diesels are the most common models and the 16v is usually coveted, but a regular petrol mk2 is generally unwanted. Shame, I think they're quite nice!

Would this be the one with the reg. no E920 KHW by any chance ?
