Nothing wrong with 'cills' it's a variant spelling.

"Tradesmen/lecturers use the spelling cill which seems to tie in with the references here (window cill, cill of lock gate) to the use of cill as a technical term among professionals like builders, architects or engineers and the sill form among the general population.

This also explains the wide difference in frequency; there are fewer professionals than the general population. Hence the mere frequency of a word is not supportive of any arguments about correctness; however, the argument about wanting to APPEAR correct should be modified to match the audience for which one is writing; professional or general."

If Cill, can this be rotten as a Pier? Once repaired it can be as burnt as a Pier. Piers are handy after all.

Interesting as I think a Canal lock has a Cill not a Sill. Ox Dicky time.

I stand corrected - thought cill was a building not automotive term. Am I allowed to point and laugh at "hydrolic" though? ;P

Well spotted, so rear subframe mounts to be rebuilt, half the boot and then the front wheel arches (inner wing to arch), under washer bottles, etc etc only a few hours work. Have to say the seller seems to be a whiz with the welder......

Can't work out why he/she doesn't fix it up!. I note it is in Brighton, the car obviously loves the sea air.......

Actually mine has very good sills (cills) except the rear blanking plate part which being part of the arch and of course bedded in thet lovely creamy sealant they had gone a bit crusty. Still sorted now along with sub frame mounts. Boot floor, not bad but 100mm sq hole in boot side (n/s), oops but not MOT failure. It will live to fight another day and a bit more welding!. A few little glass/epoxy repairs in these non structural parts is perfectly legal and OK, at least it won't rust there afterwards...
