although I can split the thread

Is that related in any way to splitting hairs
but have to say I'm also impressed by everyone's efforts in heavy loads too..

One of the least spoken of merits when discussing the hydro suspension
Last week a friend needed 20 paving slabs - and the person doing the job for her didn't want to use his own car in case it got damaged by the excess weight ! I helped out of course because 'it's designed to carry heavy loads properly - one of the reasons I choose to drive it'. Unlike her friend's Volvo estate then

No need to split the thread ..I'm sorry but chainsaws have nothing to do with this forum

Well done, I've had a triple stacker dinghy trailer on the back. Only 3 RS Fevas plus all the gear but still a fair bit of drag. No problem, the 1.6 pulled it fine. All the other guys had Freelanders, Volvo 70s etc to pull the same load. Mind you I turn down the RIBs' though as they are on or above the weight limit for an unbraked trailer....

Armour plate fine, as for intellectual level, just adjusting down.

As for chainsaws, i think they are very usefull tools and the BX Estate is great for carrying them about along with the logs they cut up. I too have stacked logs in my BX, no piccies though as i found a great big bough off an ash tree and managed to stuff it in with the tailgate open rather than leave it for someone else. One end was resting on the dash, other end 6ft out of the back of the motor. Luckily didnt have far to go.

that'd be hilarious to see...i should get myself a wagon one day..I love the concept of maximum utility for minimum dollars..

I once had 8 peeps in the old TRS auto... Think I "popped" a sphere as it was fubar the next day.

I have a bit of a history of loading up my vehicles:

These were all in or on the back of the GS that time:

Other loads include:

a 1920's treadle operated metalworking lathe and 3 bicycles in a Citroen Dyane
a 3 foot sheet metal guillotene in the GS
approximately 1/2 tonne of magazines in the GS (which broke the rear subframe  )
7 Bicycles and a load of display racking in, on top and on the back of Timex
4 bicycles and a GS rear Subframe in and on the back of a BX14
I managed to load the series 1 Land Rover to the roof with hardcore several times, plus a 1/2 tonne trailer loaded behind.
I also managed to load the same Land Rover almost to the roof with engines and gearboxes, plus tow a VW camper on a trailer.
2 Wartburg engines in the back of a Reliant Rialto (that made the steering light!)
4 2CV engines, 3 gearboxes and a couple of axles in a Wartburg (I did put more in but the mudflaps were on the ground then!)
The entire contents (filled to the roof) of an 8x10 shed full of H van spares, including a front subframe, engines, gearboxes, hubs assemblies etc. in an HW horebox (the rear end was almost on the stops!)
7 bicyles, a gazebo and a load of display material in the Dyane Nomad campervan.

A Synergie angine and gearbox in the back of Timex while collecting Visal Diesel (the tired hydraulic system struggled with keeping the back end up with that lot!)

Can I repeat that we once moved a complete Messerschmitt by sticking it backwards into an empty 2CV. Only our weight in the front seat kept the front down till about 45 mph.

This week I have mainly using my chainsaw :)

I hope the hardcore in the Land Rover was not also magazines! ..that_
